Appeal for information following collision in Ainsdale
Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a collision in Ainsdale on Monday (5 February 2018). Officers were called at about 7.20pm to a report of a collision involving a gold Volvo S70 and a blue Range Rover on Liverpool Road between Orchard Lane and Meadow Lane. The driver of the Volvo made off from the scene on foot in the direction of Sandbrook Road. A 28-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drink driving and failing to stop after a collision. He has been released under investigation. There were no reported injuries, but the road was closed for a number of hours following the incident due to extensive damage caused to the cars. Sergeant Phil Mitchell said: “We are keen to speak to any members of the public or drivers that may have witnessed this incident. I would urge drivers to consider their whereabouts at this time and check any DashCam footage or CCTV footage they may have showing the collision or the vehicles being driven shortly before the incident.” Anyone with information on the collision is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 101 quoting incident reference 18200031522, by emailing 8506@merseyside.police.uk or via 01517775747.
