Hightown Cricket Club honour their cancelled bonfire event with a FREE event this Friday night
The Bonfire and Firework event that was organised at the Hightown Cricket Club was unfortunately cancelled on Bonfire Night at about 5:30pm. Hundreds of disappointed people had to be turned away.
A notice on the Hightown Clubs Facebook page said: "Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, regrettably we have had to cancel tonight’s fireworks display, please accept our sincere apologies and we may be able to put this event on tomorrow so please check in for further updates."
The event has now been rescheduled for Friday night 10th November. The Hightown Club said: "After the cancellation of last nights Bonfire and Fireworks, we would like to announce that the event will now take place on Friday 10th November 2017."
"The bar will be open from 6pm with the bonfire being lit at 7pm and the fireworks to follow at 7.15pm. Hot food will be available."
"We would like to thank everyone for being so understanding, and as a gesture of goodwill we will not be charging for the event but will gratefully accept any donations on the night."
This is at the Hightown Cricket Club, Thirlmere Road, Hightown, L38 3RQ

Having fireworks at home can be great fun, as long as they are used safely. Figures show more children rather than adults get hurt by fireworks. Over the past five years over 350 pre-school children, some only a year old, were treated in hospital for fireworks injuries.
Be safe not sorry
Fireworks are safe if you use them properly. If you’re putting on a home display, you should follow some simple steps to make sure that everyone has a good time without getting hurt.
Keep kids safe
We want children to enjoy fireworks but they need to know that they can be dangerous if they are not used properly. Each year, over half of all firework injuries are suffered by children.
Sparkler safety
Did you know that sparklers get five times hotter than cooking oil? Sparklers are not toys and should never be given to a child under five.
