BEAUTY & THE BEAST COMES TO BLACK-E LIVERPOOL
Original Christmas Show from Drops of Light CIC
This Christmas, The Black-E Liverpool will transform in to an enchanted castle as
Drops of Light CIC present their festive offering for 2017, Beauty & the Beast.
The 350 seat capacity venue will be transformed in to an enchanted castle to host
Beauty & the Beast. The family friendly performance will be staged in the round to
offer audiences an immersive pantomime experience. This is the first pantomime to
be produced at the venue, which has been at the heart of Liverpool’s art scene since
the late 1960s.
An original production, Beauty & the Beast has been created through a series of
collaborative workshops. Drops of Light CIC facilitate workshops in several theatrical
disciplines offering people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to gain experience
in theatre production with industry professionals. Workshops are free to attend and
include acting, choreography, scriptwriting, costume and event management.
Tori Hargreaves leads the professional cast as Beauty, Nick Langmead is Beast and
Liverpool Legend Alan Stocks is Beauty’s father, Egbert the Inventor. Helen Carter
takes the role of Fairy Rose, Ciaran Kellgren is Gorgeous Gaz, Jamie Greer plays
Dame Dolly and Adam McCoy is Basic Bertie. Joining the cast is sixteen strong
ensemble team, recruited through a series of open auditions.
An original version of the classic fairytale, Beauty & the Beast is written by Jessica
Lea and directed by Sam Donovan. Jessica writes for Hollyoaks and Eastenders and
enjoys writing for children’s television with credits including The Dumping Ground,
Tracey Beaker and Grange Hill. Sam co-founded Papatango Theatre Company and
the Papatango Prize. As a director Sam’s credits include David Copperfield
