Pumpkin Patch at Hightown donates 20 pumpkins to the Formby Maritime Cadets
Jonathan Connolly and James Greenwood from the Pumpkin Patch at Hightown have very kindly donated 20 pumpkins to the Formby Maritime Cadets. The cadets really enjoyed visiting the patch and picking their pumpkins which they will be carving during their parade night next Tuesday. The cadets have been lucky enough to be invited to spend a night aboard the Kathleen & May, Britain’s last working three mast, wooden hull topsail schooner moored at Liverpool’s Albert Dock. They plan to have a Halloween theme and decorate the historic ship with the pumpkin lanterns which they will light with LED lights to create a fantastic spectacle!
The Formby Maritime Cadet Association is a uniformed charitable organisation which aims to improve the lives of young people through a wide range of nautical-themed activities. The Maritime Cadets base their customs and traditions on the Merchant and Royal Navy. Cadets aged from 8-18 advance through a rank structure which they achieve by following the core nautical training programme. They also have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications. You can call 01704 878770 (Tuesday/Friday parade nights only) or 07791426740 or email co.anson@maritimecadets.co.uk for more information.
