Recovery truck driver crushed while recovering broken down bus on Formby Bypass.
A recovery tow truck driver was crushed between his vehicle and a broken down bus after a call out on the Formby bypass last night (Wednesday 14 September 2017).
A witness at the scene said: "A man in his 50s was trapped between the two vehicles when attempting to recover the school bus. The bus was on fire earlier."
The northbound and southbound carriageway were closed while recovery of both vehicles took place.
Merseyside police and North West ambulance service were called to the scene and the injured man was rushed to hospital with serious chest injuries caused by the crush.
The severity of the drivers injuries are not known at the present time.
All roads were re-opened at around 10pm.
