St. Stephen’s Church, Hightown (pictured) , is delighted to celebrate the recent restoration of its Church Organ, with an Organ Recital on 23rd September 2017, by the eminent organist, Professor Ian Tracey, Organist Titulaire at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

St. Stephen’s, a small but active Church, at the heart of the rural village of Hightown, recently raised £12,000 to fund the full refurbishment of their Church Organ, a fine example of a ‘House Organ’ probably dating back to the 1850s, which would have originally been built for a local manor house. Money was raised from various musical fundraising events, donations, and a generous grant from the John Pilling Trust. (John Pilling was Organist and Choirmaster at Holy Trinity Church, Southport from 1953 until 1964, and later founded Makin Organs Ltd.)
St. Stephen’s Church has a strong choral tradition, with a robed choir, and places music at the heart of its Worship. All involved are thrilled that this refurbishment will improve the standard of music, both in Worship, and in musical events held at the Church.
Professor Ian Tracey is one of Britain’s best known and most respected musicians, having been Organist at the monumental Anglican Cathedral in his home town of Liverpool for over 30 years. He holds several other official positions, and combines them with a busy freelance career as a recitalist and conductor.
St. Stephen’s Church is delighted to welcome him to perform this celebratory Organ Recital, which will take place on Saturday 23rd September at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
Tickets are £10 including refreshments, and are available from Beryl on 0151 929 3617, Judith on 0151 929 3216, and on the door.
