Dame Lorna Muirhead visits the on-going Altcar PODS project, now known as the Jewel in the Crown
The Altcar PODS project is still on-going with some way to go till it’s completion and more funding is required to finish off the work.
The Merseyside Lieutenancy have also supported the Altcar PODS project and Dame Lorna Muirhead, Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, together with her Husband Ronald, made a visit to see how it had progressed since her first visit when it was in a very basic stage of construction.
During her visit she met some of the local residents who were busy giving their time painting and other odd jobs and she expressed thanks to them.
Camp Commandant Colonel Gordon Black was their host and he also took them on a tour of the Camp which is described by many as the North West Military 'Jewel in the Crown'. Although a little way to go yet, cables have been laid and the electricity now connected.
