FLEA WARNING: Prepare for INVASION of randy SUPER-FLEAS who want to use your home to mate

August 15, 2017

A PLAGUE of randy super-fleas are set to invade British homes as the washout summer has made them desperate to get indoors and get loved-up!

The recent warm and we weather following a sizzling spring has created ideal breeding conditions for the insects, including a mutation which is much bigger than “normal” fleas.

The super-fleas boast a penis two and half time the length of their body, the largest genital relative to size of any insect on the planet.

Scientists have predicted an onslaught of super-fleas and warned homeowners to get exterminators in place as soon as scratching starts.

Nigel Binns, of pest controllers Basis Prompt, told the Mirror: “The activity and behaviour of fleas is often very much dependent on the climate.

Mild temperatures during the winter means that fewer than usual will have been killed off and, as they thrive in a warm and humid environment, they’re likely to be present in greater numbers than usual during the next few weeks.

“The population of fleas seems to have grown rapidly in recent years, but the risk of an infestation could be bigger than ever this summer.”

The insects thrive in pet fur, sofas, bedding, carpets and rugs, and female fleas can lay up to 50 eggs a day for up to a year.

The eggs will hatch within a few days and can live for several months. Mr Binns said scratching is often the first sign of a possible infestation. He said: “Bite marks are usually around the ankles or legs, often leave small red spots, which are itchy.”

The British Pest Control Association recommend to treat pets with flea treatment, remove infested bedding and regularly treat walls and floors to prevent the pests from returning.

A spokesman said: “Flea bites can cause intense irritation around the central bright red spot.

“Different people react differently to a bite, both regarding the degree of reaction and time taken to react.

“If you have an active infestation, you may see fleas jumping in your carpet and furniture.”
