Formby Village came alive with a day of live music at Barnardo's Menswear

Barnardo's Menswear shop in Formby Village held a fundraising event on Saturday 29th July which livened up the village no end!

There was an Elvis tribute, Tony Ravel performing outside the shop and also live music from the up and coming very talented young singer from Liverpool, Oakleigh Elizabeth with a special appearance from singer Emily. People dancing in the streets and enjoying the fantastic atmosphere. There was also a tombola and other activities.

Branch manager, Joanne Kiffen said: "We raised a total of £1,256.44 for our event which was great. I would like to thank a few people who helped us on the day including Santander, who donated £1,000 on the day. I would also like to thank Ted Williams who kept us entertained, Tony Ravel who done Elvis for us, also Emily and her daughter, Oakleigh who were fab and a very big thank you to all my staff and volunteers who helped me on the day."

"I would also like to thank the shops that donated gift vouchers and gifts, they were Pizza Express, Trimmers Barbers, The Kitchen, Subway and Karena who donated her lovely flowers. It was such a great day, Formby village came alive."

Throughout July, Barnardo’s charity shops across the regions have taken part in fundraising activities to raise money to support the vulnerable children and families the charity works with through its children’s services.

The fundraising events, which range from family fun days and live music at shops, to sponsored walks and in-store exercise bike marathons, have been taking place each day of the month and rolling from north to south down the region.

The first event took place at the Morecambe. store on 4 July 2017 and finished at Formby on 29 July 2017.

Marie Williams, Regional Manager for Barnardo’s Retail Operations said: “I would like to thank all of our staff in our Barnardo’s stores for the great efforts they have gone to this month with hundreds of fundraising events that have taken place so far across the region, which have been supported by our colleagues in children’s services."

“Money raised from the event will go towards supporting young people at Barnardo’s services in your area, so thankyou for coming along and joining in the fun and for all your donations on the day at Formby."
