Barnardo's Formby are holding a day of live entertainment tomorrow

Face painting, cake sales, tombola and even karaoke at Barnardo's Menswear shop in Formby Village tomorrow, Saturday 29th July when they will be hosting a very special day in their fundraising calendar and everyone is welcome to join them for this great event.

Throughout July, Barnardo’s charity shops across the regions have taken part in fundraising activities to raise money to support the vulnerable children and families the charity works with through its children’s services.

The fundraising events, which range from family fun days and live music at shops, to sponsored walks and in-store exercise bike marathons, have been taking place each day of the month and rolling from north to south down the region.

The first event took place at the Morecombe. store on 4 July 2017, with face painting, cake sales, tombola and even karaoke, and the fundraising journey will finish at Formby on 29 July 2017 where there will be an Elvis tribute performing at the shop, as well as a tombola and other activities.

To symbolise the shops’ ethos of Respect, Ownership and Customer Service (ROC), a giant stick of Blackpool rock has also been passed from shop to shop as the fundraising activities have taken place.

Marie Williams, Regional Manager for Barnardo’s Retail Operations said: “I would like to thank all of our staff in our Barnardo’s stores for the great efforts they have gone to this month with hundreds of fundraising events that have taken place so far across the region, which have been supported by our colleagues in children’s services.

“We have more events also yet to take place including our event at Formby, and I would encourage members of the public to please come along and visit us at your local shop. Money raised will go towards supporting young people at Barnardo’s services in your area, so please come and get involved in the fun.”

The huge bar of Blackpool Rock has been around for 65 years so it was thought a good symbol to use for the ROC challenge. The grand finale is at the Formby store on Chapel Lane on Saturday 29th July. Santander, next door to Barnardo's, will be selling cakes to help raise more funds. There will also be fancy dress so it should be a great day. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun! Saturday 29th July.
