Three people arrested following a collision on Formby bypass
A collision on the Formby bypass after a Police chase, caused traffic chaos this afternoon, Tuesday 6th June, when Police had to divert all traffic through Hightown back roads. It happened on the junction of Orrell Hill Lane and the bypass.
A spokesman from Merseyside Police said: "Three people have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a collision on the Formby by-pass today, Tuesday 6 June."
"At 4.20pm, officers attempted to stop an Audi S4 on Buckley Hill Lane, Netherton. The vehicle failed to stop and drove off along Buckley Hill Lane in the direction of Thornton. Officers in a marked vehicle followed the car as it headed towards Formby along the Formby bypass."
"At 4.24pm, the Audi was in collision with another vehicle, a Vauxhall Insignia, near to the Weld Blundell Public House. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were taken to hospital."
"Two males left the Audi but were detained a short time later together with a third male."
The Formby bypass has been partially closed while the vehicles involved are now being recovered.
We do not know the condition of the people taken to hospital. The Air Ambulance was on scene along with three fire appliances, Police cars and vans and ambulances.
