New Suay restaurant in Formby is an Oriental delight!
Suay is an exciting new Pan-Asian restaurant that opened it's doors on School Lane in Formby on Thursday 8th December. There were no first night blues, everything went off to a great start with almost every seat full and the aromas of South East Asia filling our Bubble.
Four local entrepreneurs with a history in the hospitality industry got together to open the business which is situated in The Beacons where the old Michael Moon and Cook shops were, its exquisite exterior looks chic-oriental at the entrance to Formby Village. The menu exceeds all expectations offering South East Asian cuisines with a selection of Thai, Malaysian, Japanese, Cantonese and Chinese dishes, as well as signature cocktails in an environment that is friendly and modern with traditional South East Asian feel.

The owners of the new business all live locally and are passionate about offering a great standard of food, wines and excellent customer service. Owner Pat Wordley said: "It has been somewhat stressful and took longer than expected but it was all worth it in the end. We now have a beautiful dining venue that will be an asset to Formby Village."
Co-owner Denise Riley said: "We thought there was a need for this type of restaurant in the area. We want to bring the culinary experience you'd expect in a city centre restaurant to the suburb whilst keeping in tune with the feel of Formby Village."
The word 'Suay' which is pronounced 'Shway' is a Thai word and it means beautiful. The interior certainly is beautiful with a huge mural across the whole wall giving it that unique, Suay feel. The tree in the middle of the restaurant is embellished with Christmas decor but this will be changed through the seasons to express as much atmosphere into your dining experience as possible. The tree is surrounded by three round tables which all make a beautiful centerpiece in themselves.
The Head Chef, Rai, has lots of experience working in top restaurants in Dubai and most recently Liverpool One and has devised the menu to bring new flavours and tastes of South East Asia including Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Japan. to delight Suay customers.
Formby Bubble were invited to the opening night and were delighted to sample a service that was second to none. The restaurant was full and sounds of fun and laughter enveloped the exquisite interior as everyone enjoyed their Suay experience for the first time.
We had appetisers of Suay Special Ribs - (Chef's special pork ribs) which were plentiful and both delicious and tasty.
We were then served with Char-Grilled Sirloin Steak which was a juicy sirloin cooked exactly to perfection and served with seasonal vegetables which were just as delicious and we also had Suay Special Fried Rice which was made with Jasmine rice and cooked with Thai aromatic spices, mixed seafood and vegetables and topped with sliced roast duck.
Finally, we had the pleasure of the mouth-watering Wasabi chocolate fudge cake with coconut ice-cream and dressing which was simply to die for!
Even the toilets are tastefully decorated with a beautiful state of the art disabled facility on the ground floor and embellished modern unisex toilet facility to the first floor.
