Four fire engines tackle a house fire in Formby

Firefighters were called to a fire at a property on Southport Old Road in Formby just after 7.35pm yesterday evening - Wednesday, October 26th. Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 7.32pm and crews were alerted at 7.33pm. They were on scene at 7.37pm. Four fire engines attended the incident, which involved the first floor of the property that was ablaze. A bystander said: "Flames were coming out of the roof, it was awful." Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus used main branches and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. They used a thermal imaging camera to check for areas of heat.

Thankfully no-one was injured in the fire. Firefighters remained at the scene for around seven hours.

We have been told it was a possible electrical fault. Nobody was in the house at the time of the fire.
