Concerned resident voices worries about the Shorrocks Hill site

Last night we received the following letter from a concerned Formby resident regarding the modifications to the proposed Local Plan, in it he outlines his fears for what he thinks is about to happen on the site;
“LOVE YOUR BUBBLE”
Yes we do.
Congratulations Bubble on informing the public (June 23rd issue.) of the disastrous plan to turn Shorrocks Hill into a holiday camp. This is not the name used by the Council but what else can you call a development of chalet/bungalows which are for rent, with a 200 space car park for beach heading cars, a public toilet block for the thousands of sun/sand seekers heading for the beach on good days, and, granted, a much needed toilet block for the visitors.
Hearsay tells us that the old Shorrocks house is to be retained. This will serve the residents in the new properties, visitors using the car park, and, residents from the neighbouring caravan park well as a lucrative Club House. Will the Shorrocks Hill owners be funding the car park and toilet block in exchange for planning permission?
It was suggested at Council level that what the Bubble wrote about the new development is not necessarily accurate. What do we do? Should we sit quietly until the truth is out and then find that it is too late to comment on the proposal?
Will the felling of trees be our first sign that they are to be replaced by properties and a large car park? There are other places for a car park without felling trees and where the much needed toilet block would be nearer the beach.
The Council and its Officers should be congratulated on drip feeding information at a time when the public is distracted by the Referendum, European Soccer and the holiday season.
The Council should also apologise for circulating nearby residents, stating that the proposal for “60 houses on 3.3 hectares” can be viewed on the internet or seen in Sefton Libraries. I am not the only person to have spent ages on the net and found it impossible to locate the submission. Our local library was puzzled when asked if we could see the submission. Although the librarian could not locate the submission, she was able to speak to the planning department and was told that if members of the public wished to see the submission we would need to make an appointment and go to Bootle.
Where are our local Councillors? Have they gone to ground and are keeping their heads down?
Yes, I am cynical, but having observed the many changes at Shorrocks for many years I am sure that I can be forgiven.
