CCTV Image released after bike stolen from Freshfield station

British Transport Police has released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to after a bike was stolen from a secure bike shed at Freshfield train station.

The incident took place around 5pm on Wednesday March 18th. British Transport Police said the suspect followed a woman into the cycle shed on the Liverpool bound platform. When the woman left he then cut the lock of her bike and boarded a train.

He left the train at Sandhills near Liverpool city centre. BTP are now seeking the identity of the man in the CCTV image.

The bike was a black Marin Bobcat mountain bike.

Investigating officer PC Gary Welch said to the Bubble: “A man followed the victim into the secure cycle shed on the Liverpool bound platform, where she secured her bike. When she left, the man cut the lock off her cycle, a black Marin Bobcat mountain bike, and boarded a train from Formby, leaving it at Sandhills. Officers want to speak to the man in the image in connection with this incident. Do you know who he is?"

PC Welch added: “I believe this man will have vital information which could greatly assist our investigation. Who is he?”
