Formby Forum for Older people meets next Tuesday at Formby Luncheon Club

Formby Forum for older people is meeting next Tuesday 17th November at 2pm at the luncheon club. All older people are welcome. We are having a talk about keeping warm and well this winter.

The group whose mission is to "support older people to have their voices heard on all decisions affecting their lives" has moved into a new permanent home in Formby.

Sefton Older Persons' Forum will be holding its next meeting 17th November at its permanent new base at Formby Luncheon Club on Rosemary Lane at 2pm where they moved to in September. The forum is organised by Sefton Pensioners' Advocacy Centre, which is a small charity which provides one-to-one advocacy services to older people in the borough. Co-ordinator, Justine Shenton, said the forum was open to everyone to attend. She said: "Sefton Older Persons' Forum is a group that meets each month with the aim of giving older people a voice and ensuring that they are given help and assistance as and when they need it. "Sefton Pensioners' Advocacy Centre hosts these forums as part of our work supporting older people to have have their voices heard, particularly in relation to decisions that directly affect their lives. "It gives people the opportunity to hear interesting speakers, including speakers from local community groups and health professionals. We cover a range of topics, including providing support and guidance on welfare. "Everyone is welcome to attend and I look forward to welcoming everyone who comes along." Formby Labour councillor, Catie Page is a supporter of Sefton Pensioners' Advocacy Centre and the Older Persons' Forum events. Cllr Page said: "The work Justine and the team from SPAC is doing is brilliant. The forum events they organise are always really informative and fascinating to attend, providing invaluable information and support to people who attend. "It is great news that the forum will now be permanently based at Formby Luncheon Club, where it will meet on the third Tuesday of each month. "I always encourage people of a certain age to go along. You really will be pleasantly surprised, coming away wiser and safe in the knowledge that there are people out there who can support you and will give you the advice that you need. "People very often say that they feel like they don't have a voice on issues that affect them. Sefton Older Persons' Forum gives you a voice and adds your voice to the hundreds and thousands of other older people in Sefton, ensuring that you can influence things that affect you most. "So come along in November and see what SPAC and the Older Persons' Forum can do for you." Sefton Older Persons' Forum will be next meeting in Formby at Formby Luncheon Club on Rosemary Lane on Tuesday, November 17th at 2pm.
