Formby Junior Sports Club results

Last weekend four Formby Junior Sports Club teams won their first league games of the season. The successful teams were the Under 17’s, Under 16’s, Under 13 Whites and the Under 12’s. FJSC Under 17’s gained an excellent 4-3 away victory at Southport and Ainsdale. After going a goal down Patrick Staunton, Robert Barker, Sean Groom and Tom Barrett all scored one goal each in a very good team display. The man of the match award went to centre half Hayden Conning. Captain Tom Barrett had two assists to cap an impressive performance. Patrick Staunton’s debut goal was from the penalty spot following a twelve- pass move from defence into the S. and A. goal area. In the local derby with Redgate Rovers, the Under 16’s produced a much-improved display to record a 5-1 win. Ben Gallagher and Lewis Doyle both scored twice. Cameron Cheston also on target with an important goal. FJSC Under 13 Whites also gained their first three points in the Craven Minor Champions Division by winning their match with Mitch Green. James Cunningham netted a first half hat trick in the first twenty-five minutes. Callum Richmond and Michael Hughes scored two goals apiece. Also on the scoresheet with one goal each were Kian Fortune, Sam Kendrick and Max Cowen-Carr on his debut. Man of the match was left back Matthew Hough. Dylan Sudlow scored a fine hat trick for FJSC Under 12’s in their match against Phoenix. Nathan Cobain-Williams also scored a brace. Owain Griffiths-Johnson, Carlos Swain- Velasco and man of the match winger Tony Burke were also on target with one goal each in the 8-1 win. FJSC Under 13 United moved into second place in the Premier Division following a win against Birkdale United. Sean Jones scored five times. Ben Adams added three and Gerard Casterton and Oliver Shaw completed the scoring with a single strike each. FJSC Under 13 Blacks lost 4 nil to Tarleton. Man of the match was Josh Leddy. Before their opponents scored two FJSC shots had rattled the Tarleton crossbar and post. The Under 14’s lost 4-2 to Southport FC. FJSC Under 16 Girls lost 6-3 away at Burnley. After conceding three early first half goals FJSC fought back strongly with Rhianna Meehan netting, and two further goals from Alivia Hutchinson set up an exciting second half. Burnley sealed the win with two late goals. Sally Laughton was the player of the match. Molly Barton and Ava Shillcock also played well in midfield. The Under 14 Girls lost for the first time after two successive league victories. Despite playing well Preston North End proved to be a very formidable team. FJSC Under 13 Girls gave a good account of themselves but went down 2 nil to second in the league Crosby Stuart. Rebecca Cain and Josie McIver came the closest to scoring in another improving display as this new team gradually begins to gel. Lauren Carr made some good passes out of defence. Sammy Godsall tackled well and was the player of the match. FJSC Under 11 Whites and FJSC Under 11 Blacks played each other. In a very exciting encounter Dan King scored the only goal of the match. A Whites shot hit the post in the final minute. Man of the match for the Blacks was left wing back James Wilson. Alex Myles made some great saves in the Whites goal. Goalscorers in the other boys’ Representative matches were - Jake McNeight and Luke Honour (Under 10 White); Harry Dowd (Under 10 Black); Corey Ashworth and Jake Stanton (Under 8); Dilan Sathiyanathan three and Finlay Hunter (Under 7 White); Thomas Dent two and Liam Kirk (Under 7 Black). Deserving special mention this week are:- Jake McNeight- man of the match (Under 10 White); Jacob Lewis man of the match and Marc Whitelaw excellent goalkeeping (Under 10 Black); Oliver Mercer man of the match and Sam Mycek -shot hit the post (Under 9); whole team display (Under 8); Ivan Weights for some great saves in goal (Under 7 White); Fraser Holloway – man of the match (Under 7 Black). Six Girls’ Representative teams all played in the Hightown Girls’ League. All the teams are new to playing competitive football against other clubs. Last Sundays results all had four things in common – the girls all played well; the team managers were all delighted with the way the new teams are beginning to adapt to league football; that all the girls despite scorelines are thoroughly enjoying this new experience and finally that all the FJSC teams are showing very good sportsmanship. Goals were scored by the following girls:- Freya Thornton two (FJSC United); Karen Lane (FJSC Rangers); Yasmin Godsall four, Sophia Wright three and Holly Rimmer two (FJSC Albion ); Heidi Addis (FJSC Real); Paige Leather five and Grace Rooney two (FJSC Hotspurs). Deserving special mention this week:- Best team display so far (FJSC Jets); Freya Thornton player of the match (FJSC United); Whole team (FJSC Rangers); Entire squad (FJSC Albion); Emily Ball for some spectacular saves in goal (FJSC Real); Lottie Atherton- team captain (FJSC Hotspurs). Two hundred and twenty- five children attended the Inter Club Section football last Saturday with eighty-five also taking part in the organised coaching sessions. Reception and Year One numbers continue to grow and from a club point of view this is very encouraging. Two matches were played in the Boys’ Super League Division Three with wins for the Lions and the Leopards. The division’s scorers were – Connor Daulby, Dilan Sathiyanathan, Luke Lewis and Lucas Rawlins. There was a high scoring draw between Hotspurs and United and a Rangers win in the Boys’ Super League Division Two. Twenty –seven goals were scored. The goalscorers were- Oliver Buch –Platt, Oliver Charnock, Daniel Green, Dominic Hamilton, Jacob Heaney, Martin Melyov, Oliver Mercer, Ben Murphy, Lewis Parker, Jake Stanton and Jack Yarwood. In the Boy’ Super League Division One there were three close scoring matches with eventual victories for Pinewood Athletic, Sandune Rovers and Formby Grasshoppers. The scorers were – Luke Blanchard, Charlie Campbell, Sonny Carroll, Matteo Heaney, Luke Honour, Aiden Kealy, Andrew Kimmance, Daniel King, Paul Lally, Jacob Lewis, Ivalin Melyov, Steven Mordaunt, Luke Plunkett, Matthew Purdy and Tyler Winder. The Year One and Year Two Girls’ group continues to impress with enthusiasm, no shortage of skill and increasing numbers. The following girls scored goals in their matches – Kitty Cray, Holly Campbell, Amber Ashman, Remia Mills, L’Taya Mills, Kiera O’Rourke, Isabella Moore, Lucy Duncan, Megan Hulse and Leah Naylor. In the Girls’ Super League Division Three there were wins for Swifts and the Magpies. Arianna Casson, Yasmin Godsall, Harvee Hindley, Paige Leather, Ava Lewis, Niamh O’ Rourke, Grace Rooney, Neve Thornton, Ellie Todino and Sophia Wright were the division’s scorers. Both games in the Girls’ Super League Division Two were won by just one goal. There were wins for Tigers and the Dolphins. On target this week were Hannah Allmark, Erin Denison, Lily Hall, Maisy Hughes, Beth McMahon-Bell, Liberty Murphy and Freya Thornton. The Opals won their match in the Girls’ Super League Division One. The division’s scorers were Molly Graham, Lily Hamilton and Rebecca Cain. FJSC WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS Toby Hargreaves, L’Taya Mills, Remia Mills, Alicia Mills, Joshua Horner, Oliver Dean, James Eriksen, Morgan Griffiths- Johnson, George Campbell- Myatt, Lee Clarke, Anneli Sathiyanathan and Stephen Cave. INTER CLUB NEWS New members in ALL Inter Club age groups are very welcome to join. Children can come along, have a go and see if they enjoy the football before joining. INTER CLUB TIMES ALL matches and coaching sessions are at Deansgate Lane on Saturday 3rd. October. FOOTBALL FOR RECEPTION Reception - Coaching 9am. and matches at 9.30am. FOOTBALL FOR BOYS Year 1 boys – Matches at 9am and coaching at 9.30am. Year 2 boys – Coaching at 9.30am and matches at 10am. Years 3/4 boys –Coaching at 9.15am and matches at 10am. Years 5/6 boys – Matches at 10am. FOOTBALL FOR GIRLS Years 1,2, 3 girls –Coaching at 10.15am - matches at 11am. Years 4,5,6 girls – Coaching at 10.15am – matches at 11am. Years 7,8,9 girls – Coaching at 10.15am – matches at 11am.
