Family Days out in Southport and surrounding areas.

There are lots of things to do for all the family in Southport and surrounding areas from today, Sunday 26th April.

Steam & vintage vehicle rally, Free Tennis, Teddy Bears Picnic, model raiilway show, Southport Scouts St George's parade, and lots more besides

The annual Riverside Steam & Vintage Vehicle Rally takes place from 10am-4pm this Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26.

Visitors can enjoy more than 500 steam, vintage and classic vehicles.

There will be a vintage fairground, steam gallopers, beer tent, donkey rides, miniature steam railway and more. Admission is £7 adults, £6 OAPs, £3 children, under-11s go free.

Model Railway Show - OLD Christ Church on Waterloo Road in Waterloo will stage a The Model Railway Show this Saturday and Sunday (April 25 & 26).

Admission is adults £4, OAPs £3.50, children £2, under fives free.

THE Southport Scouts St George’s Parade takes place this Sunday (April 26).

It will start from Waterside Lodge before travelling over the Marine Parade Bridge, along The Promenade, Leicester Street, and across Lord Street to Holy Trinity Church.

TENNIS For Free sessions take place at Victoria Park, College Road, Crosby, on Sunday (April 26).

The weekly coach-led session is from 1pm-3pm for all ages and standards. All equipment is provided. Details from 07843 384346.

Wednesday sessions take place in The Parlour, at Betsy Boo Creations, on Birkdale Trading Estate, Liverpool Road, Birkdale, at:

1. 10:30-11:30am

2. 12:00-1:00pm

3. 1:30-2:30pm

Thursday sessions are held at: Playtown, Ocean Plaza, Marine Drive, Southport between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Do you have a little one between 18 months and four years old?

Would you like to do more creative activities but don’t really fancy making a mess at home?

Little Explorers is perfect for you!

Friendly, laid back sessions where you and your little ones can explore lots of different materials, create some lovely keepsakes and memories and you don’t have to clear up any mess.

Sessions cost £18 per child for four weeks (£8 siblings) or £5.50 individual sessions (£2 siblings).

The Lion King

Film fans are invited to a special outdoor screening of “The Lion King” at Southport’s King’s Gardens on Friday May 1.

The film will start at sunset (around 9.10 pm) and admission is free; however a donation of £2 per person to the Friends of King’s Gardens will help to support future screenings.

"The Lion King" will be shown in the community garden. No seating is available, so those attending are advised to wrap up warm and perhaps bring a small pop up tent to act as a wind break. Food and drink will be on sale in the gardens, or film goers can bring their own picnics. For further information on the screening, please contact Sefton Council's Parks Team on 0151 934 2421. A TEDDY Bears Picnic takes place at Jollies Barn, at the Gravel, Mere Brow, between 2.30pm and 4.30pm on Saturday, May 2.

Admission is £5 per ticket (one child/ one adult) and includes cold buffet and to hours play.

A BLISS charity event is taking place at St George’s Church on Lord Street in Southport between 1pm and 4.30pm on Saturday, May 2.

The charity helps babis born too soon, too small and too sick.

Visitors can enjoy a fun afternoon of games, competitions and stalls.

PUSH the Boat Out takes place at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre, Cambridge Road, Waterloo, on Sunday, May 10 between 10am and 4pm .

The event takes place in partnership with Crosby Sailing Club.

If you’ve always wanted to have a go at sailing or are returning to the sport after a break or just want a great day out with the family, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a go - you never know, you may love it and find yourself becoming a regular down here on the Lake!

The event is open to all abilities (aged eight and over) and will offer the opportunity to take to the water under the expert guidance of RYA dinghy and windsurfing instructors at a cost of just £5 per person for a one hour session.

The usual attractions will also be on offer such as the option to pay & play hire the rowing boats and kayaks and a bouncy castle for those who prefer to stay on land with the little ones!

Wild Outdoors - SEFTON Council and Sefton Play Council have launched a new joint initiative for children, Wild Outdoors, at Waterloo Marina play area on Wednesdays, 3.30-5.30pm, until May 27th.

Fun activities include natural craft sessions and there will be the chance to enjoy campfire food.
