Our takeaway review feature visits the new 24-hour drive-thru restaurant that's been causing quite a stir in Formby says the Liverpool Echo.

As part of an ongoing series with the Echo, we'll be reviewing some of the various takeaway outlets across Liverpool and Merseyside.

We'll be looking at all aspects of the takeaway experience, from the ease of ordering and delivery times, to quality of service, and of course, how the food measures up.

This week, we've been sampling the delights of MJ's, new 24-hour drive-thru restaurant that's been causing quite a stir on the Formby Bypass.

Cuisine: Eclectic - wraps, salads, fish and chips, crispy duck, ribs and squid

No phone number, its a drive thru.

Order: Pulled pork wrap with BBQ sauce, Nicoise salad in an edible tortilla bowl, two portions of chips, two chocolate cakes.

Price: £14

Order method: At the drive thru hatch

Pick up or delivery? Pick up

Waiting time: 3 minutes

Service: Excellent service from polite and helpful staff.

Did the food arrive hot? Yes, all the food was hot and packaged in cardboard boxes.

Flavours: The BBQ sauce on the pulled pork was excellent, although the pork itself benefited from the sachet of salt provided. The salad had real substance to it with olives, boiled egg, tuna and anchovies. The edible tortilla bowl was fresh, tasty and crisp.

Portion size: We need not have ordered two portions of chips or two of cake as the salad was very filling - better value than a leading rival international drive thru fast-food restaurant.

Any other comments? The menu feels a little limited, although it clearly aims to be healthier than other drive thru-type takeaways.
