The Liverpool Echo Christmas Toy Appeal launches today.....

Today, the Liverpool Echo launches this year’s toy appeal to provide Christmas presents for underprivileged children across Merseyside. They have teamed up with your local Lions Clubs and are also building upon their successful partnership over previous years by again working with family favourite Greggs the Bakers stores across Merseyside.

The appeal launches this Monday 24th November and will finish on Friday 19th December 2014.

Public support and generosity has been overwhelming in previous years especially last year when ten of thousands of toys were collected for children who may not otherwise have received such gifts over the Christmas period.

Rachel Cunningham, ECHO Brand Manager, said: “We’re delighted to be launching the Christmas Toy appeal again. It’s absolutely fantastic that the generosity of the people of Merseyside can light up thousands of children’s faces at Christmas time. If you are able to donate a gift it really will be gratefully received. The Toy Appeal will help underprivileged kids across Merseyside who might not receive anything for Christmas without your help!”

“I know people may be cutting back this year and looking to save money but some children literally have nothing.”

“Please buy one extra gift this year and help us light up thousands of children’s faces this Christmas time.”

You can donate new, unwrapped toys at any participating Greggs store, where you will receive a free mince pie for your generosity.

Local Lions clubs work hard every year to collect the toys and take them to a central location, where they are sorted by age groups and gender.

Each year the Echo Toy Appeal and Radio City’s Mission Christmas for Cash for Kids join forces to bring thousands of toys to underprivileged kids across Merseyside, let’s make this year the best one yet!

How can I help?

If you would like to donate a new, unwrapped toy, you can do so at any participating Greggs the Bakers store where you will receive a free mince pie/sausage roll for your generosity. Toys which are suitable for children of all ages, including teenagers aged 14-17, will be gratefully received.
