It's going to be another fantastic year for the Southport Comedy Festival!

Headline acts from across the world of comedy will descend on the town this October (16-26) to make the 2014 festival even better than ever.

Event organiser Brendan Riley said: “We are delighted to welcome Sean Hughes, Jason Byrne, Paul Sinha, Tony Law, Jason Cook and Zoe Lyons, as well as returning favourites Robin Ince and Tom Binns to our festival.

“As well as classic stand-up, there are children’s shows and free events, squeaky clean shows and our annual search for fresh talent with The Southport New Comedian Of The Year competition sponsored once again by Nando’s.

“We have some new venues to visit as well as your favourites from previous years and of course it wouldn’t be the Southport Comedy Festival if we didn’t have the End of the Pier show, would it?

“We will also be supporting more charities this year, raising money while raising a smile with six very worthy charities on board to include Claire House Children’s Hospice, Age Concern and Bridge Inn Community Farm.

“The Southport Comedy Festival is about bringing comedy to the people. We use local venues and work with local businesses to bring you comedy up close and personal. We have managed to keep ticket prices low again with shows starting from £3 and if you buy your tickets direct from the venues there are no additional charges.

“This year’s Southport Comedy Festival is bigger and better than ever before, with over 20 shows and events, 11 venues and over 40 comedians from all over the world It’s going to be an amazing 11 days.
