Weekend to Remember for Formby Junior Sports Club as Under 15 Whites Claim First Win and Under 13s Celebrate Double Success

Formby Junior Sports Club Under 15 Whites won for the first time this season in a thrilling encounter and there were also double weekend wins for FJSC Under 13 Whites and FJSC Under 13 Blacks.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 15 Whites won a thrilling match4-3 against Southport Trinity Yellow. The Whites were 2 nil down at half time but after an encouraging team talk the boys fired themselves up for the second half. DylanHyslop grabbed his first goal for the club with a scrappy finish and then Noah Dunham set up Eoin Dwyer with a brilliant cross to make it 2-2. Harry McCluskie then gave FJSC the leadwith a good close finish. Excitement was growing and then after all the Whites efforts to hold onto their slender 3-2 lead, Southport Trinity equalised. In a dramatic finish withjust seconds remaining FJSC’s Harry Tierney unleashed a shot from outside the Trinity goal area. The ball took a deflection and looped over the Southport Trinity keeper into the net for the winning goal. Super sub Noah Dunham changed the game when he came onwith some great runs and was Man of the Match.
FJSC Under 15 Blacks Saturday team played FC Northern and succumbed to a 7 nil defeat. A slow start to the match by the Blacks proved very costly and they conceded fourquick goals. The team started to play much better in the second half after the first half wake -up call and played with much more pride which is something they will be able to take forward. The boys are playing some very good teams in the Liverpool Premier League and need to be at their best all the time. Man of the Match was Harrison Kelly who was very industrious and stuck to his task until the end.
On Sunday FJSC Under 15 made a fast and sharp start against Real Skem and were unfortunate not to be 1-0 up after five minuteswhen a Fabian Reilly headed goal from a Lucas Lewis free kick was deemed offside.Ben Harris made amends three minutes later with the equaliser after a quick burst of play out of defence. Real Skem then clawed their way into the game seeing more and more possession. Fabian Reilly doubled FJSC’s leadon 32 minutes following a cross from Ben Harris. Real Skem pulled a goal back just before half time.
The second half was a lot more even but Real Skem equalised on 62 minutes. Will Madutlela struck a ferocious shot from twenty-five yards which was parried by the Skem keeper but the alert Ben Harris was first to the ball and scored to give FJSC a 3-2 lead with ten minutes remaining. This exciting match continued and very late on Real Skemequalised to end the match 3-3. Players of the Match were Fabian Reilly for his attacking threat and Jenson Heron for a solid performance at centre back.
A depleted FJSC Under 16 Blacks team lost 10 nil away to a very good Everton PC team in the West Lancs League.
FJSC Under 13 Whites produced a superb second-half performance to run out convincing 10-2 winners over Titans at Buckley Hill.
Zac McHugh opened the scoring after just three minutes, but despite dominating much of the first half, Formby were frustrated by some excellent Titans goalkeeping and missed opportunities. Titans equalised against the run of play before Zac Cooper restored the lead and McHugh added his second to make it 3-1 at half-time.
Formby stepped up another level after the break. Paddy O’Callaghan made it 4-1 before Cooper grabbed his second. Titans briefly responded, but the Whites took complete control as their quicker passing, movement and clinical finishing began to tell. Zac McHugh completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot before Callum Mannix, Sonny Callister and McHugh again found the net. Kayden Watters completed the scoring in the 66th minute to seal the victory.
There were excellent contributions throughout the side, with Kayden Watters, Hugo Thomas, Josh Halpin and Finnbar Coss providing a strong defensive platform, while Diego Funes-Cervera’s movement and work rate caused Titans problems throughout. Man of theMatch went to four goal Zac McHugh.
FJSC Under 13 Whites Sunday teammaintained their unbeaten West Lancashire Junior Football League start with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over LAJFC side. Formby were forced to show plenty of character early on when Reuben Hunt unfortunately went off injured. Despite the setback, FJSC defended superbly and gradually took control.
Finnbar Coss and Paddy O’Callaghan worked tirelessly in midfield, while Diego Funes-Cervera and Callum Mannix provided a constant threat out wide. At the back, Lucas Glennon, Kayden Watters and Reuben Hunt defended brilliantly, with Kaspa Bailey producing several excellent saves and commanding his area superbly.
The breakthrough arrived in the 40th minute when Finnbar Coss battled for possession on the edge of the area and the loose ball fell toPaddy O’Callaghan, who reacted quickly to squeeze his finish beyond the goalkeeper for 1-0. Formby doubled their lead in the 53rd minute with an excellent team goal. Glennon carried the ball out from defence before producing a superb pass to Mannix, who unselfishly squared for Josh Halpin to finish into the empty net.
LAJFC continued to apply pressure, but FJSCstood firm to secure an excellent victory and a deserved clean sheet.
It was a brilliant team performance built on resilience, hard work and quality, securing another three points and maintaining FJSC’s unbeaten start to the league campaign.
FJSC Under 13 Gold had a difficult time against Churchtown Athletic losing 13 nil in the cup competition. Bobby Reid and Alex MacArthur played really well whilst Man of the Match was Cole Connor for his tacklingand confidence on the ball.
FJSC Under 13 Black Saturday team made it four wins from four matches played in the Hightown Junior League with a 3 nil win overFCN Panthers. Quinn McAuley capped a great match with two goals. Leo Ball was also a scorer.
FJSC Under 13 Blacks gained a 11-1 win over 11 Soccer Coaching in the cup but FJSC Under 13 Green lost 4 nil in their cup match to higher division opponents Ormskirk West End Blue.
FJSC Under 12 Black produced a dominant display in their first-round cup qualifier on home soil running out convincing 15-0 winners against Forefield Rangers Reds. From the first whistle, Formby played with tremendous intensity, pressing high, winning the ball back quickly and attacking with purpose. Their relentless approach paid off as they raced into a big lead by half-time, leaving Forefield struggling to contain the constant pressure which continued after the interval.
Alex Rowley led the scoring with an outstanding six goals, while Ethan Catleughand Josh Robinson each bagged impressive hat-tricks. Ash Jones, Asher Fields and Noah Underwood also got on the scoresheet to round off a superb team performance. Man of the Match was Alex Rowley who, aided by some fine assists from his teammates, was simply unplayable at times.
FJSC Under 10 Black played Southport and Ainsdale 360 for the second time this season. Both teams started well with plenty of chances being created. The deadlock ended when S. and B. scored from a penalty. FJSC were undeterred and a well taken ball from Isaac Murphy found Ted Middleton who equalised within minutes.
In the second half the Blacks continued to press and again a long-range ball from Zac Oliver-Watts found Ted Middleton who neatly slotted the ball home. Within the closing stages of the game Harley Rea’s up field goalkick found Charlies Barnes who managed to deflect the ball goalbound to give the Blacks their third goal to secure the win. Man of the Match was goalkeeper Harley Rea for his assist and making a fine save. Seb Graham also produced an outstanding display. See the squad photograph above.
FJSC Under 10 Reds thoroughly deserved their victory away at a sunny Ferryside Lanewhere they played Southport Athletic. Two goals from Man of the Match Ray Burnett and one goal each from Finn Constable, Isaac Kamel and Ed Makinson rounded off an impressive team display that could have yielded a lot more goals if it wasn’t for some inspired goalkeeping by Southport Athleticgoalkeeper.
FJSC Under 10 Whites maintained their unbeaten start to the season in breathtakingfashion from back to front against a spirited Southport Athletic side. The scoring opened when Sammy Porter was brought down in the box after a brilliant drive andcalmly steppedup to convert the penalty he won himself. Playing with confidence further goals were scored with some clinical finishing, including several absolute stunners from distance.Despite strong Man of the Match contenders across the pitch after such a complete team performance, Anders Carter took home the award for a brilliant all-round display capped off by a superb four-goal haul. Also on the scoresheet were Harry Brown and Cian O’Farrell
FJSC Under 8 Green played a very good Southport and Ainsdale Deportiva in what turned out to be a high scoring and exciting contest. The Greens showed great resilience after a tough first half and with perseverance came back strongly in the second in which they managed to score four times. Man of the Match was Leo Clarke who scored for the third game in a row. Also on target with goals were Reuben Pearson, Adam Jadid-Leech and Theo Benton.
FJSC Under 8 Gold were in action against Southport Athletic who took their chances well. The Gold team’s positional play is improving and the team showed bags of energy which is encouraging. Damon McKay scored twice.
FJSC Under 6’s played against a strong Akidemy Gold team. Hudson Kenny grabbed two goals including one from a brilliantly worked free kick with James McManus. Goalkeeper Louie Winsor made some excellent saves. Johnathan McFadden showed some fantastic tenacity in defence and James McManus also scored . There was plenty to be proud of with the team working hard and battling right until the final whistle.
INTER CLUB SECTION
The Year Eight and Nine match was action packed with the Blues winning 4-2 against the Yellows. Elsewhere there was an end to end match involving the Year 5 and Year 6 boys and many exciting goalmouth scrambles involving the younger age groups.
Amongst the goals last Saturday were Noah Wright, Johnathan McFadden, Louie Winsor, Hudson Kenny, Adam Jadid-Leech, James Curran, Theo Benton, Kayden Dowdall, Frankie Williamson, Arthur Weir, Sammy Porter, Anders Carter, Elis Zeniou, Archie Marron, Reuben Coyne, Nik Kostakis, Albie Hartley, and Charlie Griffiths.

Year 6 boys wishing to start football are invited to attend the Inter Club Year 5 and Year 6 session from 10.45 to 12pm next Saturday for a taster session.

FJSC are about to form two new teams – one more FJSC team at Under 6 (present Year 1) and the other at the Under 5 age group (present Reception) on Sunday mornings. If interested, boys are invited to attend the Year 1 and Reception Inter Club session from 10.am to 11.10am next Saturday.
