Range High School’s Year 7 boys delivered a fantastic performance last week at the Liverpool FC training ground, finishing an impressive second place overall in the local Little League tournament.
Competing in a strong six team competition, the boys showed outstanding skill, determination and team spirit throughout the morning. They won three of their five fixtures, securing a 2 nil victory against Meols Cop, a 1 nil win over Stanley and another convincing 2 nil result against CTK.
After an intense run of four back to back matches, tired legs inevitably began to show. The team narrowly lost 1 nil in a hard fought contest against FHS before falling 2 nil to Birkdale in their final game. Despite the fatigue, their effort, commitment and attitude never dropped.
The team were especially proud to receive lovely praise from Liverpool FC staff who were observing the tournament, a real testament to both their talent and sportsmanship on the pitch.
A special congratulations goes to Charlie Fielding, who was singled out by the tournament organiser as Best Goalkeeper of the Day following an excellent series of performances between the posts.
Huge thanks also to Mr Wagstaff for attending to support and encourage the boys throughout the morning.
A brilliant achievement and a superb start to their high school football journey. Well done lads.
