One of Formby’s most recognisable landmarks is preparing to welcome customers once again after standing silent for seven years.
The former Red Squirrel pub on the Formby Bypass is officially set to reopen under an exciting new identity, The Wild Roe.
Set to be a traditional, rural, friendly pub, kitchen & garden.

The much loved venue has remained closed since 2019, leaving many residents wondering if its doors would ever open again. Now, a new chapter is about to begin as an experienced hospitality team takes over the site with ambitious plans for its future.
Leading the transformation are the owners behind the hugely successful Murphy’s Tavern in Crosby Village. Known for creating welcoming venues at the heart of the community, the team is bringing fresh energy and investment to the former pub.
The Wild Roe promises to be much more than just a pub. The vision is to create a premier destination for both local residents and visitors, breathing new life into a site that has long been part of Formby’s landscape.
For many people driving along the bypass, seeing activity return to the building will be a welcome sight after years of closure. The reopening marks the revival of a well known local landmark and is expected to generate plenty of excitement across the area.
Further details about opening plans are expected in the coming weeks as work continues to transform the venue into its new identity.
Everyone at Formby Bubble would like to wish the new owners and their team every success with this exciting venture. Bringing a landmark venue back to life is no small task, and we look forward to seeing The Wild Roe become a thriving part of the local community once again.

Only thing wrong with this article is that this pub is not in formby. Its in ince Blundell and infact has a Hightown postcode.
