Christmas is coming to Formby Village!
One of the biggest and most eagerly anticipated events in Formby’s calendar is returning this November, and families are being encouraged to save the date now.
Formby Christmas Lights Switch On 2026 is

Each year, the Christmas Lights Switch On brings Formby Village alive as the community comes together to mark the beginning of the festive season.
Last year saw huge crowds fill the village for a wonderful evening of Christmas celebrations, with Chapel Lane transformed into a festive pedestrian area and families enjoying fairground rides, stalls and entertainment before the big countdown to the lights being switched on.
The event traditionally sees road closures through the heart of Formby Village, allowing the celebrations to take over Chapel Lane and Brows Lane, with the funfair extending to Formby Pool.
Local schools, choirs, performers and community groups have also traditionally taken to the stage as part of the entertainment, building up to the moment everyone is waiting for when Formby’s Christmas lights illuminate the village.
For 2026, the only detail confirmed at this stage is the date, Thursday 19th November.
Full details of this year’s event, including times, entertainment, attractions, road closures and the Christmas Lights Switch On programme, will be announced nearer the time.
