Ravenmeols Lane Road Closure Planned for Carriageway Works

Drivers in Formby are being given advance notice of a road closure on Ravenmeols Lane later this month while carriageway improvement works are carried out.

The closure is scheduled to be in place from Tuesday 25 August until Friday 28 August 2026, affecting the section of Ravenmeols Lane between The Ravens and Glendale Way.

The work is being carried out for Sefton Council by contractor Dowhigh Ltd and will involve reconstruction and resurfacing of the carriageway.

Information issued to residents states that the main works are expected to begin on Wednesday 26 August and last approximately three days, with working hours between 9:30am and 4:00pm.

Access during the closure:

Pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Residents and deliveries may also be allowed vehicle access when it is safe to do so. However, because heavy machinery will be operating on the road, access will depend on the work taking place at the time and will be at the discretion of the site supervisor.

Diversion route:

A signed diversion will be in place during the closure, taking drivers via Kings Road, Duke Street, Three Tuns Lane and Liverpool Road before returning to Raven Meols Lane.

The diversion is approximately 1.99km and is estimated to add around three minutes to journeys.

Drivers who regularly use Ravenmeols Lane are advised to be aware of the closure and allow a little extra time for their journeys.
