With warm weather forecast this weekend, the National Trust is warning that its car parks at Formby are expected to reach capacity very quickly and is encouraging visitors to travel by train wherever possible or consider visiting on a quieter day.
Formby is a wild, natural and legally protected conservation area. As a result, parking is limited and facilities are intentionally kept to a minimum to help protect this special landscape. Visitors should also be aware that reaching the beach involves a scenic walk through the woodlands and sand dunes.

The National Trust says those looking for a traditional seaside resort with easy parking, quick beach access and a wide range of facilities may wish to consider alternative destinations.
Visitors planning a trip this weekend are also reminded that:
• Toilets are open from 9.30am until 4.30pm.
• RNLI lifeguards will be on duty at Lifeboat Road from 10am until 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
• In a beach emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
The National Trust is also asking everyone to help protect Formby’s unique environment and respect local residents by:
• Not lighting fires or disposable barbecues.
• Parking responsibly and keeping emergency access routes clear.
• Taking all litter home.
• Respecting the fragile dunes and wildlife by treading carefully.
With thousands expected to visit over the weekend, planning ahead and choosing public transport where possible will help reduce congestion and ensure emergency vehicles can access the area if needed.
