Merseyrail Christmas & New Year Services – What You Need to Know

Merseyrail has released its timetable changes for the festive period, including earlier finishes on some days and the return of the special Boxing Day service.

Whether it is for last minute shopping, a night out or a day at the races, trains will be running every day over the festive period, except for Christmas Day.

During the festive period there will be changes to our timetables, with some services finishing earlier than usual on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Also our special Boxing Day service returns.

Christmas timetables below:

Christmas Eve (Wednesday 24 December) 

Services will finish early, approximately 20:30.

Christmas Day (Thursday 25 December)

No services will run.

Boxing Day (Friday 26 December)

A special 30-minute Boxing Day service will run from approximately 09:30 to 19:00 calling at selected stations on each line.

Aintree Races

Additional services will also run between Liverpool and Aintree station for anyone planning on going to the Boxing Day racing at Aintree racecourse.

New Year's Eve (Wednesday 31 December)

Services will finish early, approximately 20:30.

New Year's Day (Thursday 1 January)

A 30-minute Sunday service will run on all lines across the network.
