Residents are being advised that the mobile breast screening unit located at Waitrose in Formby has been forced to close following a collision involving a vehicle over the weekend.

The incident caused significant damage to the unit, meaning it cannot safely continue operating. As a result, the facility will remain closed until repairs are completed.
The unit had been scheduled to remain in Formby for four months, providing vital screening appointments for local people. This makes the closure even more serious, as it has had a direct impact on many residents who were relying on this essential service.
All appointments up to mid April have now been cancelled, leaving patients facing longer waiting times and uncertainty.
Patients affected are urged to call 0151 282 6920 to reschedule their appointment. Those wishing to be seen sooner may be able to attend alternative locations at Goodison Park, Asda on Smithdown Road, or Broadgreen Hospital.
This reckless and unacceptable behaviour, with a vehicle reportedly being driven at speed around the car park late at night, has had devastating consequences for the community. What may have seemed like irresponsible actions has now disrupted a vital cancer screening service and impacted the health of local residents.
A spokesperson said the safety of both staff and patients remains the highest priority.
