It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Alan Ankers, a long-time and much-loved resident of Formby, who died peacefully last week.
Alan lived a full and active life and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a well-respected friend to many within the community.
He had a passion for local sport and was a familiar face across Formby’s sporting scene. Alan played cricket for Formby Cricket Club’s third team and also enjoyed badminton, snooker, golf and bowls. He was also a long-standing member of the Conservative Club, where he spent many happy times in the company of friends.
Joyce, Heather, Colin and the wider family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone for the kindness, cards and support they have received during this difficult time. They would also like to extend special thanks to the team at Halcyon House for their care, compassion and continued support.
Alan’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 29 April at 11:30am at West Lancashire Crematorium, Pippin Street, Ormskirk, L40 7SP.
Attendees are welcome to wear traditional funeral attire, with a splash of colour if they wish.
Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory of Alan to Halcyon House or the Stroke Association would be gratefully received via Barringtons Funeral Services.
