Important Update: Temporary Extension to End of Sunday Chemist Service in Formby

We previously informed the community that the Sunday chemist service in Formby was being stopped, but it has now been temporarily extended to give residents time to adjust and make alternative arrangements.
The NHS, which grants permission for the Sunday chemist to open in Formby for one hour each Sunday, has agreed to continue this service for a short while longer. This extension will allow people to come to terms with the change.
The Sunday chemist today, Sunday 8th June is:
Ryders Chemists,
41 Old Town Lane,
L37 3HJ.
Tel: 01704 872173
Open from 12noon to 1pm
Please note that next week will be a different chemist depending on the rota.
The chemist is only ever open for one hour from 12noon to 1pm.
Important Date to Note:
From Friday 8th August, there will no longer be a Sunday chemist in Formby. After this date, those needing pharmacy services on Sundays will need to travel to alternative locations outside of Formby, including Southport, Litherland, or Aintree.
After serving our community for many decades, this long-standing tradition will be sadly coming to an end. The NHS has withdrawn the funding that supported the one-hour Sunday opening, citing that such provisions are considered outdated and historic, and are not offered elsewhere.
We understand this news will be disappointing for many residents, as the Sunday chemist had become a valued part of local healthcare support. Thank you for your understanding as we all adjust to these changes.
Formby Bubble will continue to provide updates and information on local healthcare services as they become available.
