The Hightown Pub and Kitchen has officially closed its doors, just fourteen months after opening in October 2024.

However, there is positive news for the village, as new owners have now taken over the premises and are preparing to reopen the venue as a welcoming, community-focused local pub.
In a statement shared this week, the new owners confirmed they took possession of the keys on Monday 12 January and are working at pace to get the pub ready to reopen on Friday 31 January, subject to final preparations going smoothly.
The venue will reopen as the Hightown Hotel, joining the owners’ growing family of hospitality venues. They describe themselves as a hands-on, family-run business with a strong focus on quality, affordability, and creating a friendly, inviting atmosphere.
The new owners said they had visited the pub several times as customers over recent months and spent time speaking with both locals and staff. They acknowledged shared frustrations within the community and expressed a clear commitment to delivering the village pub that residents want and deserve.
Alongside reopening the pub, work is already underway on the hotel rooms within the building. The owners hope to have accommodation available within the next few months once refurbishment works are complete.
They added that regular updates will be shared as progress continues and said they are looking forward to welcoming residents back through the doors at the end of January.
