Formby to Get Its Own Monopoly Style Board Game – And You Can Help Design It

A brand new community project is giving local people the chance to help create a board game celebrating everything that makes Formby special.
Formby Property Tycoon is a Monopoly style board game inspired by the classic property trading game, but with a unique Formby twist. Every street, landmark and community card will be chosen by the people who know and love the village, making it a game designed by the community, for the community.
The project is the brainchild of Stephanie Macnab Estate Agents, who are inviting residents to nominate the streets they believe deserve the most prestigious spaces on the board, the local landmarks that should replace the traditional station squares, and ideas for the Community Chest and Chance cards that reflect life in Formby.
Rather than simply recreating a well known board game, the aim is to create a unique keepsake that captures the character, history and community spirit of Formby.
The competition is free to enter and takes just a few minutes to complete. Entries are open until 31 August 2026, after which the final board design will be created using the community’s ideas and nominations.
An initial prototype run will be produced for competition winners, with a full public production run expected to follow if there is sufficient community demand.
The project has already received an outstanding response from local residents and businesses, highlighting the enthusiasm for creating something that celebrates Formby in a fun and lasting way.
Importantly, once production costs have been covered, any surplus generated by the project will be donated to St Joseph’s Hospice, helping to support the incredible work the charity carries out for local families.
