On Tuesday 11th November 2025, Formby will fall silent as residents come together to honour the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
Formby Remembrance Services 2025
Armistice Day – Tuesday 11th November
Formby War Memorial: Short Act of Remembrance at 10:55am, followed by the traditional two-minute silence.
Our Lady’s Churchyard (Polish War Graves): Commemoration at 11:30am, following the service at the War Memorial.
The Mayor of Sefton, alongside local veterans and Armed Forces personnel, will be in attendance to pay tribute to all those who have served and sacrificed.
As we approach Remembrance Day, the people of Formby will pause to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who fought for our freedom — in the two World Wars and in conflicts since. Their legacy lives on in the peace we enjoy today.
The annual services have been arranged in collaboration between Sefton Council and the Formby branch of the Royal British Legion, who warmly invite everyone in the community to come together in respect and remembrance.
This week, Formby Village looks especially beautiful, with vibrant red poppies adorning the lampposts and railings around the War Memorial — a striking symbol of remembrance and gratitude from a community that will never forget. ❤️🌺
These touching displays have been lovingly arranged in preparation for Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, honouring those who gave their lives in service.
The Poppy Appeal
The Poppy Appeal is now in full swing, with veterans and volunteers from the Formby Royal British Legion stationed at Tesco and Waitrose, offering a range of merchandise to raise vital funds.

Poppies are also available from selected shops and businesses throughout Formby and Freshfield — thank you to everyone showing their support.
Why We Remember
Remembrance Sunday is a national moment to reflect on the bravery and selflessness of those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
We remember the Armed Forces and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, as well as the emergency services and all those who have lost their lives through conflict or terrorism.
The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal continues to be a vital lifeline for veterans and their families, and your support makes a real difference.
Garden of Remembrance Crosses
The Garden of Remembrance at Formby Village War Memorial will be open from 1st November for anyone wishing to place a cross in memory of a loved one.
Crosses are available from Formby Home Store, with proceeds going to the Poppy Appeal, and at the Poppy stalls in Waitrose and Tesco.
We warmly encourage all residents to attend a service, wear their poppy with pride, and stand together as a community —
Lest We Forget.
