Formby Taekwondo Champion Erin Bannon Selected to Represent Great Britain at World Championships

Formby’s own Erin Bannon has earned the honour of representing Great Britain at the World Poomsae Taekwondo Championships in Chuncheon, South Korea, this September—but she is now appealing for the support of the local community and businesses to help make the journey possible.

Erin has enjoyed an incredible year, becoming the Under-17 British National Champion before being recognised for her outstanding achievements by receiving the Sefton Young Sports Person of the Year award.

Her taekwondo journey began at just three years old with Ascend Taekwondo, based at Formby High School, where she has trained under coach Lisa Scott ever since. Now a 3rd Dan Black Belt, Erin is also preparing to grade for her 4th Dan later this year, demonstrating the dedication and commitment that has taken her to the very highest level of the sport.

Representing Great Britain at a World Championship is a dream come true, but competing internationally comes with significant costs, including travel, accommodation, competition fees and training expenses. Erin and her family are therefore looking for local businesses, organisations and members of the community who may be able to offer sponsorship or financial support.
