Formby Property Tycoon moves closer to reality as pre-orders open for community board game
The much anticipated Formby board game is moving another step closer to becoming a reality following an incredible response from residents, businesses and community organisations across the town.
Stephanie Macnab Estate Agents, who launched the community project, have issued a new update confirming that a production partner has now been secured and work on the artwork is under way.
The competition invited local people to help create a board game that celebrates Formby, with residents encouraged to submit their ideas for the places, landmarks, businesses and features they felt deserved a place on the finished game.
The response was fantastic, with people from across Formby getting involved and sharing their suggestions and ideas.
Stephanie Macnab Estate Agents have thanked everyone who took the time to enter, submit ideas, support the competition and help shape what will eventually become the finished Formby board game.
The project has also received tremendous support from the local business and community sector, with six headline sponsors, three community sponsors and two community partners becoming involved.
Now the project has reached its next important stage.
A printer has been confirmed and the artwork is currently being prepared ready for production.
Everyone who took part in the original competition will shortly be contacted and asked whether they would like to buy a copy of the finished game.
There will be no payment required at this initial stage. The team simply needs people to confirm their interest and commitment to purchasing a copy so they can establish how many games need to be printed.
The final cost is still being worked out, but it is hoped that the game will be priced at around £29.99 when collected locally from the Formby office. A small additional postage charge is expected for anyone who needs their copy delivered.
Once the production costs have been finalised, the final price will be confirmed and payment will then be taken.
When the required print run has been funded and confirmed, the Formby board game will go into production, with copies then being distributed to competition prize winners and those who have pre ordered.
Anyone who entered the competition is being asked to keep an eye out for an email from the team.
However, you do not need to have entered the original competition to get involved.
If you missed the competition but would love to own a copy of the Formby board game, you can now register your interest in pre ordering one.
The project is also supporting a very worthy local cause. Any surplus generated after production and running costs will be donated to St Joseph’s Hospice.

It has been a real community effort and the next exciting stage will be seeing all those ideas brought together in the finished game.

With Christmas not too far away, the finished game could also make a fantastic and very different present for anyone with a connection to Formby. Whether it is for someone who has lived here all their life, a former resident who has moved away, or a family who simply loves the area, it is a chance to own a little piece of Formby created with the help of the community itself.
Registering your interest at this stage does not require payment, but it will help the team establish the level of demand and the number of games required for the initial print run.
