Over the past few days, Formby Bubble has been contacted by local residents after rumours began circulating that the boules pitch at Formby Pool could be removed as part of possible extension plans.
One member of the Formby U3A Boules Club, which has used the site for over 20 years, told us: “We’d heard from someone working at the pool that it might be extended and that we could lose the boules pistes — it caused a lot of worry among our members.”
To clear up the uncertainty, Formby Bubble reached out directly to Formby Pool for clarification.
We are pleased to confirm that the management at Formby Pool told us they are still in the very early stages of discussions and planning regarding any future developments. However, they have made it clear that there will always be a boules pitch at Formby Pool for everyone to enjoy.
This means the Formby U3A Boules Club and all other local players can continue to play without concern — the pistes are safe and will remain an important part of the site.
Formby Pool has reassured us that even if any future extensions to the gym or facilities go ahead, the boules pitch will remain for the community to enjoy for years to come.
Formby Bubble will continue to provide updates if and when any formal plans are submitted to Sefton Council.
