Visitors planning a trip to the Sefton coastline this weekend are being advised of important changes due to forecasted high tides, particularly affecting Ainsdale beach.

Beach parking at Ainsdale will be closed on Sunday 17th May as a safety precaution, with high tides expected to reach 9.22 metres at 11.53am. However, the beach will remain open to visitors on Saturday 16th May, when high tide is due at 11.06am with a height of 9.06 metres.

Those heading to Formby or Ainsdale on Saturday are being encouraged to plan ahead, as conditions are expected to change throughout the day. The morning will start mostly sunny, but cloud will gradually build in from the west, leading to a largely cloudy afternoon with spells of light rain. Steadier rain is expected to move in later in the day.
Sunday will begin brighter, with sunny intervals and a few patches of cloud. As the day progresses, cloud and showers are expected to develop, alongside the higher tide levels which have led to the decision to close beach parking.
For those still looking to enjoy the coast, Formby beach will remain open across the weekend. Access is available via Lifeboat Road, which offers boardwalk access to the beach.

There is also access via the Formby Red Squirrel Reserve along Victoria Road. However, visitors should be aware that parking spaces at both locations are limited and can fill up quickly, particularly during busy periods.
Anyone visiting the coast is reminded to take extra care, especially around high tide times when conditions can change rapidly. In the event of a coastal emergency, always call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
