Emergency crews quickly respond to incident at Formby home this morning

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Harington Green in Formby this morning after a kitchen mishap resulted in a significant amount of smoke.
Sirens could be heard across Formby as fire crews and an ambulance rushed to the scene.
Crews were alerted at 8:52am and arrived on scene by 9:03am, with two fire engines in attendance. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that burnt toast had created a large volume of smoke, although thankfully no fire had developed.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire crews arrived to find smoke in the property caused by burnt toast. Firefighters ensured natural ventilation to clear the smoke, and a resident was assessed by North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Two other occupants were unharmed. Before leaving at 9:37am, firefighters carried out a home fire safety check to ensure the property was safe.”

This incident is a timely reminder for everyone to remain vigilant in the kitchen and ensure working smoke alarms are in place to provide early warning in the event of smoke or fire.
