A warm welcome to new members last weekend as teams continued their excellent start to the season

Many of Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams continued their excellent start to the season at the weekend and the Inter Club Section gave more new members a warm welcome.

FJSC REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 14’s Sunday team started brightlyagainst Southport FC with Archie Ogdenscoring two goals in two minutes. The teamplayed some lovely football on a poor surface.   Freddie Garvey and Thomas Prior both scored twenty yard screamers. Alfie Holden and Harrison McGrath also got on the scoresheet. It was a good team performance. Man of Match Archie Ogden scored five goals in the 9-1 victory. See team photograph above kindly sponsored by Sam Hurst Construction.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks Saturday team played Walton Vale a new team to the league.  Walton Vale took a two goal first half lead.   FJSC played much better in the second half but could not break through a well organised Walton Vale defence and the score line remained 2 nil.  Man of the match was Freddie Garvey.

FJSC Under 13s Blacks took on TQ Academy in an early season top of the table clash. FJSC started on the front foot creating several early chances, the best of which fell to Ethan Donegan who beat the keeper with some clever footwork but saw his shot cleared off the line by a retreating defender. Patrick Fleming then saw a long-range volley tipped over the crossbar. It was TQ who opened the scoring though, as somewhat against the run of play, they broke down the left wing and hit a good shot in at the far post to make it 1 nil.  Further chances came and went but the defences for both teams held strong.

Early in the second half TQ increased their lead, scoring from a free kick to put FJSC on the back foot. Abe Rice came close to pulling one back when his attempted lob from the edge of the area was well saved and then Patrick Fleming had a free kick pushed wide by the keeper. TQ took advantage of a defensive mix up to go three up, before Patrick Fleming scored from a tight angle on the left to make it 3-1. The fight back was quickly stopped in its tracks though as TQ scored a fourth from a corner to restore their advantage.

This was a close and competitive game between two sides looking to play attacking football, despite the windy conditions. Man of the match was awarded to Sam Uttley who had a strong game at left back, wining his one-on-one duals and looking composed on the ball.

FJSC Under 12 Whites  played on astro turffor the first time away at JN Sports.  JN’sexperience with the surface showed from early on. Although FJSC challenged well, JN worked the ball into spaces very well and were lethal with their finishing to lead 5-0 at half time. Despite the score the Whites settled into the game and  started moving the ball well creating their own chances. Seth McNamara who was making his debut showed endless energy and some lovely touches on the right wing.

The second half  didn’t start well for FJSC  as JN scored again to make it 6 nil. FJSC struck back quickly when a throw in from WilliamMadutlela found Lucas Lewis who finishedneatly past the keeper. A Lucas Lewis corner went directly in to make it 6-2 and then a superb free kick made it 6-3 when LucasLewis scored again to complete a remarkable five minute hat trick which unsurprisingly earned him the referee’s man of the match award. It was 6-3 for the majority of the half before two late goals were conceded to finish 8-3. This was a great performance, especiallyin the second half against a very good footballing team.

FJSC Under 11 Whites had another tough fixture against a strong Redgate Rovers Green team. A tight first half saw the teams level at half time after Oscar Buch-Platt had equalised with a long range free kick after Redgate had taken an early lead.

The second half saw Redgate start brightly with two quick goals. FJSC never gave up  and kept battling and earned a well-deserved draw when Isaac Jones scored twice.  There were some exceptional defensive performances, notably from M an of the Match Luca Mihai.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks continued their winning ways  against a determined Southport Trinity White. As per previous weeks, it took a while for FJSC to settle into their game. Half way through the first half Caden Walker opened the scoring by being on the end of a well worked team goal.

Alex Barr, Leo Fagan and Alfie Forsyth marshalled the defence well ensuring that chances where limited for Trinity in the first half. By half time FJSC doubled their leadafter another well worked team goal. With Finley Scott roaming down the left wing and Alfie Forsyth on the right wing, FJSC ensured that they used the full width of the pitch which resulted in a great poacher’s goal from FinleyScott. Charlie Richardson who as usual controlled and held onto the ball up front while waiting for support got the goal his game deserved with some great footwork.FJSC pushed on and some great running and dribbling from both Alex Barr and Ben Webster ensured that Ben continued his goal scoring streak.

Louis O’Connor and Charlie Burton didn’t stop running all game and made life as difficult as it could be for the opposition with delivery after delivery into the penalty area. Oscar Phillips ensured another clean sheet in goal with some great sweeping of long balls to ensure another win.  Man of the match was Caden Walker who finished the match with five goals.

FJSC Under 10 Whites played FC Northern Panthers on Saturday. The early exchanges were scrappy, but after nine minutes Thomas Crutchley broke the deadlock after receiving a wonderful slide rule pass from Jaiden Crosby.FJSC doubled their lead when Clayton Gilbertson found Joshua Halpin’s who scored with his first touch of the game. Huey Stevenson assisted Zak McHugh for two of his four goals and Kayden Watters this week turned provider for both of Diego Funes-Cervera’s goals. In the second half FJSC scored early on with Isaac Rimmer assisting Zac McHugh for his third and fourth goal.  When neededgoalkeeper Edgar Johnson ably dealt with any threat. Joint Man of the Match was awarded to Zac McHugh for his goals and Thomas Crutchley for his all round performance.

FJSC Under 10 Reds played away at Southport Trinity Blue.  Goalkeeper Brett McKeown made a series of fine saves and there was also some last ditch defending by the Reds.  Eventually Trinity took the lead and despite the efforts of the Reds their opponents added  more goals during the match.   Tommy Collins was Man of the Match  for his tireless running but there were outstanding performances also from Tom Murphy for his battling defensive display and by Brett McKeown for some excellent goalkeeping.

FJSC Under 9 Whites Saturday team were in action against Marina Sands.   The team’s top scorer Seb Hodgson scored in the first minute after receiving a great pass from Jack Haggart.  More goals followed from Henry Williamson ,Walter Ramsdale, James Smith, Isaac Ade and man of the match Jack Haggart in another very impressive team display.

FJSC Under 9 Whites were in action again on Sunday when they played Southport Athletic Blacks.   Scoring for FJSC was man of the match Isaac Higgins, Seb Hodgson, Henry Williamson, Isaac Ade, James Smith, Walter Ramsdale and Theo White.

FJSC Under 9 Black's were away at Southport Trinity.  From the kick off the Black's passing, movement and pressing was very impressive. The boys are developing into an excellent team. The Black's opened the scoring with a goal from Jackson Ebo. Just before half time Idris Jones score a spectacular free kick. The Black's remained on top with Jack Hansen scoring a hat trick, Ashley Jones a brace and Noah Underwood getting on the score sheet as well as creating three assists.  The performance from Ashley Jones earned him Man of the Match.

FJSC Under 9 Reds were at home to Southport Trinity U9’s Black . It was a hard-fought game with both sides battling for control. FJSC started the game well creating numerous chances in the first half. Each team looked dangerous going forward and Trinity would have scored if goalkeeper Luke Madutlelahadn’t pulled off some brilliant saves. The Reds once again pressed only to be caught on the counter attack for Trinity to score just before half time.

The second half was just as contested as the first with both teams trying to dominate. FJSC had numerous attempts on goal and were very unlucky not to get an equaliser. The whole team played the game with passion and determination and FJSC were very unlucky not to come away from the game with at least a draw.  Some excellent control defending earned Archie Taylor a well-deserved Man of the Match award.

FJSC Under 8 Whites played away at Southport Trinity Blue.  It was end to end football from the start.  Trinity started to find little gaps and had plenty of shots which wereeither excellently saved by Charles Fazakerley or narrowly went wide of the target. JoshuaGillespie was a rock in defence keeping Southport at bay.

FJSC didn’t really get into the game until the second half when the team came together to all contribute to the final shot on target which came from Charlie Ormesher who opened the scoring. Elliott Dyment who had been trying so hard for his teammates, battling for every ball, was unlucky not to score. Charlie Ormesher then managed to break away down the right side cutting inside to score again.

All the boys played exceptionally well making the decision for man of the match a difficult one to choose which in the end came down to the hat trick hero Charlie Ormesher for his impressive display in front of goal.   The Under 8 Whites unbeaten run of matches which stretches back to the beginning of the year continues.

FJSC Under 8 Blacks were away at Redgate Blacks and the game ebbed and flowed. FJSCwere full of energy and passing the ball brilliantly.  The team have been working hard in training and it showed as FJSC opened up with a goal within a few minutes of kick offwith a well taken goal scored by Alfie Alston.  FJSC continued to dominate the first half adding two further goals from Jack Brown and Eoin Follett.

Redgate showed great character and started to come back into the game with a flurry ofgoals.   It was all square until the last tenseconds when Redgate took the lead. It was a great game to watch and all the boys played brilliantly. Man of the Match was Alfie Alston.

FJSC Under 7 played out a fifteen goal thriller at home with Southport Trinity Blue.  The Under 7’s leapt into a four goal lead but Southport Trinity staged a great comeback.  Logan Haggart scored a wonderful free kick to extend FJSC’s lead but Trinity scored two more goals to set up a fantastic final few minutes play.  Franklin Chignell’s sixth goalof the match made sure that FJSC kept in front to the final whistle.  Apart from the goal scorers Lucas Byrne, Ben Donnelly, Archie Jones and Thomas North all played very well in an excellent team effort.

FJSC Under 6 Whites played a friendly at Marine Sands.  The team battled hard in the first half to go into a slender lead with a goal each from captain Theo Kelly and Arthur Higgins.   Marina  Sands came back strongly in the second half scoring a number of late goals to change the outcome of the match.  Man of the match was Cormack Nice.

FJSC Under 6 Blacks produced a very good team effort against Litherland Black in a Sefton Development League Fixture.  There was some great finishing, tackling and passing shown as all the boys continue to improve with every outing.   Thomas Mitchell, Theo Thomas and Max Healey scored the goals.  Tayo Popoola played well and the Man of the Match award was shared by Cole Jones and Thomas Mitchell.
