A Life Saved on Altcar Beach – A Story of Courage, Teamwork and Community 💙

Along the stretch of beach beside Altcar Training Camp in Hightown, what began as an ordinary summer’s day quickly turned into a life-threatening emergency.
A young woman had been thrown from her horse and was left unresponsive on the sand.
Within moments, the Altcar Team were on scene.
Acting without hesitation, they took control of the situation from the very first seconds. Calm, focused and highly skilled, they worked together to give the young rider the very best chance.
At the heart of that response was Wayne Kelbrick.
Drawing on his experience, Wayne focused entirely on saving the woman’s life and thanks to his actions, she survived.
In recognition of his bravery, Wayne has now been awarded a Royal Humane Society Award, an honour that dates back to 1774 and celebrates acts of lifesaving courage. He now joins a long line of individuals who stepped forward in a moment of crisis and made a difference when it truly mattered.
Wayne, like many within the NW RFCA community, is a Veteran, having served in the Royal Navy. His training, composure and instinct in such a critical moment played a vital role that day.
But this is also a story of teamwork.
Every member of the Altcar Team contributed, showing professionalism, compassion and dedication throughout. Together, they turned a frightening situation into one of hope.
This is what community looks like at its very best.
From everyone at Formby Bubble, we send our heartfelt congratulations to Wayne and our sincere thanks to the entire Altcar Team.
You have made your community incredibly proud. 👏
