Local boy to ride 20km to help the homeless
A local boy has decided to get active and help the homeless at the same time by doing a 20km sponsored bike ride despite being only 8 years old. Louis Winn, who is a pupil at St.Luke’s primary school, has planned his ride for Friday 19th June and will be setting off from his house in Formby and cycling all the way to Crosby Leisure Centre and back again. His mum, Joanna, says “The furthest he has ever cycled is 13km and I’ve emphasised that this is half of that again and a rather long way but he’s quite determined!” Louis came up with the idea after hearing about a kids lockdown challenge to cover 20km over the month of June (walk/run/cycle a little each day). His enthusiasm took hold and he quickly set himself the challenge of tackling all 20km at once. Initially Louis wanted to raise £4000 but adjusted that to £200 which seemed more realistic however he soon smashed that target! Louis is looking forward to the ride and eager to see how much money he can raise for Shelter.
