Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report - 21/10/19

As the first quarter of the Formby Junior Sports Club season nears completion the club is delighted with the progress made by all its members so far this season. Fifty- four new children have joined FJSC already this season and two new Under 6 Boys Representative teams have been formed and have had their taste of playing against other clubs in the area on Sundays with encouraging performances. Soon it will be the turn of an even younger Under 5 FJSC Boys’ team to follow suit. Every Representative team has worn the FJSC club shirt with pride with managers doing a great job of involving as many children as possible in every match played. The future for FJSC looks very rosy with fifty boys all under the age of six years of age playing football each Saturday morning in the Inter Club Section. The club can boast that every child in the Inter Club Section has the opportunity each Saturday to have a coaching session as well as playing friendly matches. On the Girls’ front there is encouraging progress in the Inter Club Section with the girls improving each Saturday. This has been transferred to Sunday results with the FJSC Under 8 Girls’ Bobcats having a one hundred per cent record. At the other end of the spectrum FJSC Under 18 Girls’ are undefeated so far this season and are in second position in the very prestigious West Lancs Girls’ League. The other Girls’ team, FJSC Under 16 Girls’ Jets, had a moment to remember at training last Saturday when they had a wonderful photograph taken with famous Formby resident, the Liverpool FC Manager and FIFA’s World Football Manager of the Year, Jurgen Klopp and his dog Emma. FJSC Under 18 Girls’ played Crosby Stuart in a closely contested league match. Anna Rutherford scored twice to win the game - one after a beautifully placed Nina Macy through ball and the second a brilliant solo effort with her left foot from distance. Charlotte Doyle showed her range of football skills, including a tackle to set up the move for the first goal. Abby Hobbs was composed on the ball producing her best game of the season so far. The Under 18’s have played five league matches, have won three times and drawn twice. The team have scored twenty goals and owe much of their success to their defence with only seven goals being conceded. FJSC Under 14 Whites had a tough game against a very strong and well organised Dynamo Rangers. Formby took the lead early on with a well-taken goal from Ellis Parry following a well worked move. There were good performances from Steven Mordaunt who played in goal, and Harry Graham in the centre of midfield but Dynamo’s strength and pressure proved too much as the game went on with Dynamo winning 4-1 in the end. It was another difficult day for FJSC Under 12 Blacks in the away fixture at Southport and Birkdale. A solid start saw both teams battling hard and attacking well. A few FJSC attacks were well dealt with by the home team, with Ollie Shaw and Alfie Finney going close. S. and B. pressed well and scored a couple of quick goals despite Bowie Mavers making some good saves in goal. Isaac Bird, Dylan Jones and Dan Raw defended well and at half time the Under 12’s were losing 3 nil but were still very much in the game. The second half saw Formby battle well with the depleted Formby squad doing well in patches. S. and B. proved too strong and a tiring Formby squad conceding late goals and finally succumbed to a 7 nil defeat. FJSC Under 10’s Saturday team were in action against Active Soccer Blacks. Luca Massey scored five goals and there was a hat trick for James Cook. Also on the score sheet with two goals was Charlie Garvey and Freddie Garvey and Josh Adderley added one goal each. FJSC Under 10 Blacks played Southport FC on Sunday. There were four goals each for Dominic Maxwell, Freddie Garvey and James Cook. Archie Ogden also scored a hat trick and there was one goal each for Charlie Garvey, Max Hall and from Will Brown with a free kick. FJSC Under 9 Whites had a very hard fought match with Burscough Dynamo and despite it being a very even contest for most of the game, Burscough just edged the Whites with some clinical finishes. For FJSC, Owen Griffiths scored twice and Niall Brennan capped a good match with a goal as well. Man of the match was Luke Patel for another strong defensive showing. FJSC Under 9 Blacks produced their best performance of the season so far against Southport FC. Southport kicked off the first half and the game was played in a good spirit with only a few chances created as both defences played well to limit any opportunities. Mid way through the first half Southport scored with a long-range effort, which was quickly followed by a second. Formby did not let their heads drop and Tom Donnelly produced a fine pass forward for Lewis Donoghue to skilfully tap in at the back post to make it 2-1 at the break. Straight from the whistle in the second half, Formby pushed forward looking for an equaliser which came after Ollie Dean went on a mazy run down the right and crossed the ball into the penalty box for Lewis Donoghue to get his second of the game. Southport scored a third only for Lewis to get his hat trick by equalising shortly afterwards again. At 3-3 the game could easily have gone either way with both goalkeepers, particularly Robert Gorman for FJSC, making some very good saves, but it was Southport who managed to score the winning goal towards the end. FJSC Under 8 Girls’ Bobcats kept up their very impressive start to the season with an excellent team display against Bootle FC. The passing, moving off the ball and general team play was first class. The midweek coaching, combined with Saturday morning training and the Inter Club match is certainly working well with every squad member showing immense improvement. Scoring the goals on Sunday’s match were Gabriella Otty and Shanice Jones with two goals apiece. Also on target for the Bobcats with one goal each were Emily Lavin, Bella Massey and Skylar Davies. There were also good individual displays from Sophia Kamel and Sienna Kamel. FJSC Under 7’s had a tough day at the office against a very good Redgate Greens’ team. Hughie Macleod did however continue to take his chances in front of goal for FJSC and scored a fine hat trick. FJSC Under 6’s took a squad of 16 players to Netherton on Sunday and split into two teams on the day and played matches against Southport Trinity and ESC Napoli. The boys competed well and battled hard with great determination in the two matches and gained invaluable experience. There were goals scored by Mason Stringer, Oliver Hall-Gleeson, Jude Massey and Ryan Lamb. INTER CLUB FOOTBALL There was an excellent attendance in all the Inter Club groups. The coaching from Jordan Parker (UEFA coach) was as always well received as all the children practiced their ball skills with much success. All the children are listening to instructions very well indeed which has been commended by many parents. The Reception match had a very unusual score of 0-0. Scoring goals in the other age groups last Saturday were – Oliver Hall-Gleeson, Joshua Halpin, Max McAuley, Rory Rankine, Mason Stringer, Jack Williams, George Hayes, Zac Hooson- Jones, Hughie Macleod, Adam Patel, Ephraim Sutton, Niall Brennan, Thomas Donnelly, Jack Finnegan, Zach Gilbert, Joel Gilbert, Owen Griffiths, Daniel Hagan, Cole Heron, Adam Jackson, Lucas Maddocks, Harry Nelson, Ezra Sutton, Jordan Ventre, Bella Massey, Skylar Davies, Sophia Kamel, Sienna Kamel and Cece Patterson. Weather wise the FJSC Inter Club Section has held six sessions out of a possible seven available with many of the children having a perfect six out of six attendance record.
