Plastic Free Champion Squirrel Coffee awarded their plaque and certificate as they ditch the plastic
On Sunday 16th June, Squirrel Coffee was awarded their certificate as they put an end to plastic.
All packaging is non-plastic, where possible it is compostable including coffee cups and lids, spoons and stirrers, knives and forks, bamboo plates, sandwich wrappings, also using silicone reusable bakeware eliminating need for baking paper
They do offer paper straws, but for individuals who need a straw due to a disability paper straws are no good, so have washable silicone straws to lend to customers. There is a discount for people who bring their own reusable cup.
Squirrel Coffee has also agreed to buying fruit and potatoes from a local supplier that is committed to reducing plastic waste and largely packs in cardboard and paper. Their electricity is from renewable sources, power supplier uses only renewable sources and some comes from their solar panels.
Proposed actions going forward:
-To offer reusable cups purchased from charity shops for £1 deposit
-Sourcing a composting waste collection for compostable cups etc.
Squirrel Coffee source products as locally as possible, cakes are delicious and home made. Found at Victoria Road NT carpark and Fisherman's Path.
Keep up the Plastic Free work!
