Formby Community FC target the next generation of female footballers after scoring funding from The
Formby Community FC are on the hunt for the next generation of female players after receiving a £6000 Grow the Game grant.
The scheme, which is funded by The Football Association [The FA] and delivered by the Football Foundation, will enable Formby Community FC create 3 Girls teams and 1 Ladies team providing a significant boost to female participatory opportunities in Formby.
The Grow the Game scheme sees grants of £1,500 awarded to community football clubs wishing to create new teams, especially amongst under-represented groups.
This year, funding was made available for clubs looking to create new female and disability football teams, which can assist towards the costs of FA coaching courses; FA league affiliation costs; referees’ fees; first aid kits; football kit and equipment. Tina Hamilton Chair of Formby Community FC, said: “The Grant that we have received is a huge boost to Formby Community FC, we were established in March this year, so are at the beginning of our journey, so to have this financial backing from The FA and The Football Foundation will allow us to buy kits, equipment, send Coaches on Coaching courses, and pay for all the admin involved with setting up Football Teams.
Knowing that the girls and ladies have funding for the next 3 years, will allow our club to dedicate time to developing the Boys and Mens teams, and also focus on starting up our Walking Football team, allowing us to achieve our dream of being a club for the community and providing football for all, and using Football as a vehicle to create community cohesion.
This cash injection is priceless for us and our club and means instead of worrying about funding and raising funds, we can focus on recruitment and retention. To celebrate the award we are hosting a free session for all girls on Friday in Formby at Deansgate Lane, further details for this are available on our website www.formbycommunityfc.com From us all at Formby Community FC, THANK YOU FOOTBALL FOUNDATION AND THE FA”
