Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report - 25/03/19

The Formby Junior Sports Club highlight of the weekend was without doubt the exceptionally good attendance in the Reception age group on Saturday morning.

Each week the children have shown an improvement in skill for all to see. New members are coming along each week and very quickly are mixing in with the very enthusiastic group, having fun and making a host of new friends.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES BOYS FJSC Under 15’s won 3 nil against Ormskirk in the Bootle League. After a goalless first half FJSC upped the tempo and with the wind behind them began to play some excellent football. Billy Steel gave FJSC the lead with a shot from outside the goal area and with twenty minutes left the same scorer doubled FJSC’s lead. Harry Forsyth completed the scoring with a third goal from a left foot volley. Man of the match was Jack Ray. FJSC Under 8’s entertained Southport FC. It was a very closely contested game with very little between two good teams. On the score sheet for FJSC were man of the match Owen Griffiths with two goals and Harry Nelson, Luke Patel and Niall Brennan with one goal each.

GIRLS FJSC Under 17 Girls lost 2 nil to Blackpool. FJSC played the better football for large parts of the match but did not make the most of their possession. Blackpool had few efforts on goal but took their chances well. In the first half Rachel Douras-Hanlon was very lively on the left wing and Nina Macy helped control the midfield area in the second half. FJSC’s best chance was Anna Rutherford’s first time striken which narrowly went wide of the target. In the Premier Division all six teams have dropped points leaving the title wide open.

FJSC Under 16’s drew 1-1 with Eagle Sports. Josie McIver scored once again. In the cup FJSC Under 14 Real played League Champions Hesketh Colts Red. Real were at their best and won 4-1 with Evie Law scoring a hat trick. Player of the match was Mia Bates.

FJSC Under 12 Hotspurs played FJSC Under 12 Valencia in the spring league. Hotspurs ran out winners with Lilly Lovelady–Lang, Paige Leather, Ellie Todino and Bo Price all scoring. Girl of the game for her passing and work rate was Arianna Casson.

FJSC Under 11’s won 3-1 against Rainford Rangers in the cup with goals from Mae Phillips and Sienna Turner. Girl of the game was right- winger Darcey Martin. FJSC Under 10 Tornados won their match against Ravenhead. Lucy Duncan and Holly Foster were amongst the goals. Girl of the game was Elyssa Reece-Archer.

FJSC Under 10 Rockets recently played FJSC Tornado in the semi-final of the cup. Isabelle Parkinson gave Tornado the lead but the Rockets came back to book a place in the final at Finch Farm with goals from Hannah Jones and Megan Hulse. On Sunday the Rockets played Southport Trinity and lost for the first time this season FJSC Under 8 Galaxy played Remyca with honours shared. Scoring for FJSC were Milla Johnson, Amelia Scott and girl of the game Lucy Gilbertson.
