Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report - 25/02/19
There was a reduced programme of Formby Junior Sports Club Representative team matches played at the weekend due to half term.
BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 15 Whites played Litherland Remyca in a Bootle League match. The Whites started slowly and Remyca took full advantage and went into a 2 nil first half lead with two very well taken goals. FJSC were much the better team in the first twenty minutes of the second half but failed to score. All changed when Lewis Pringle scored after a FJSC counter attack. Now in the ascendancy the Whites drew level at 2-2 with a goal from Billy Steel following a through ball from Dan Griffin. One minute later the Whites took the lead for the first time when a good pass from Tom Harrison allowed Billy Steel to score his second goal of the match and his team’s third. With the match now becoming a thrilling encounter Remyca fought back, equalised and then went into a 4-3 lead late on. It was all out attack by the Whites in the final five minutes with a Will Neave shot that went agonising over the bar and then a George Forsyth strike hit the Remyca post. Eventually FJSC Whites scored the equaliser when Tom Harrison made it 4-4 with a precise lob over the keeper. It was a great game. Man of the match was Elliot Pitt.
FJSC Under 14’s were in action against league title contenders Southport Trinity. The FJSC defence were excellent and kept a very lively Trinity forward line at bay for the majority of the game. Eventually Trinity scored twice. The Under 14’s dominated the game in the second half but could not find a goal that their efforts deserved. Although the final score remained 2 nil considering that the first time this team played Southport Trinity earlier in the season they lost 11 nil, the boys have made a considerable improvement on all fronts over the last couple of months. Man of the match was Gerard Broomfield. FJSC’s goalkeepers (one in each half) Jack Allars and Ross Ferguson made some great saves.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks and Crosby Stuart enjoyed a friendly match. After going 2 nil down the Blacks were all square at the interval with Dylan Riley scoring twice. Crosby Stuart scored early on in the second half. The Blacks made a determined effort to draw level again with near misses from Reuban Dowling, Oliver Charnock and Jack Yarwood. The score however remained 3-2 in favour of Crosby Stuart.
FJSC Under 10 Blacks played Hesketh Colts. Liam Kirk scored and man of the match was Dan Mortimer.
FJSC Under 9’s were involved in another very even match this time against Southport Trinity. Dominic Maxwell scored. Freddie Garvey and Archie Ogden were joint men of the match.
FJSC Under 8’s travelled to Burscough Blacks. After conceding an early goal the Under 8’s settled down and Owen Griffiths, Harry Nelson, Charlie Jameson, Luke Patel, Thomas Szabo and George Hansen all scored goals. Man of the match for his work rate and tracking back was Harry Nelson.
GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
The cup match between FJSC Under 14 United and Litherland Remyca was goalless at half time as both defences held firm. United piled on the pressure in the second half with a series of corners. One of which was bundled over the Remyca goal line by Martha Steel. From another corner an Anna Klaassen effort struck the crossbar. The final score remained 1 nil for FJSC. Yaz Jones and Alex Murphy- Worrell had very influential games but on this occasion the match winner Martha Steel was voted girl of the game.
FJSC Under 11 Atletico lost 4-2 to league champions Crosby Stuart in another exciting cup match. Girl of the game Mae Phillips set up Sienna Turner for the first FJSC goal. Macey Taylor added a second with a long- range effort. Ellie Greenwood was unlucky not to add to the total with a half volley. It was a very good performance by Atletico.
FJSC Tornado and FJSC Rockets played against each other in an Under 10 group cup match. All the girls of the two teams played very well especially the two goalkeepers Joanne Mountain and Harriet Tunley. Rockets took the lead when Erin Riley scored her first ever goal for her team. Further Rockets goals came from girl of the game Hannah Jones and Megan Hulse.

CLUB NEWS
TWO NEW BOYS’ REP TEAMS
Two new Representative team managers have been appointed in preparation for next season.
This is great news for the present Year One boys who will have a new FJSC Under 7 team (Year Two’s in September) next season.
Equally exciting is that the fast growing present Year Four group will have two FJSC Under 10 boys’ teams next season and not just one team. (for Year Five’s in September).
FJSC MEMBERSHIP
FJSC’s membership for the season has now reached 464.
Welcome to recent new members – Isabel Mackenzie, Gabriella Otty, Wojtek Pietkiewicz, Cassidy Villiers-James, Jack Rimmer, Peter Clark and Olivia Mahon.
NEW CLUB WEBSITE
This is a work in progress and as mentioned already (on two occasions) the club is in need of someone with expertise in this area to act as a webmaster or adviser we can call upon for the more complicated issues related to getting the website up and running quickly.
Meanwhile I have made a start so that every Inter Club member can keep a check on their appearances and goals scored since the new website started earlier in the month. By going on to Teams and Year Groups all the information can be found. Also in News every Inter Club member can see listed their statistics from the start of the season to the end of January 2019.
I am quite aware that the website could look more colourful but sadly my knowledge does not stretch very far and that is why I have asked for some help.
There is no doubt that the new website is much easier to navigate and will be a good move for the club in being able to relay information to its members. However there has been no feedback at all from anyone about the new website which is rather disappointing.
YEAR ONE/TWO GIRLS’ PARENTS MEETING
Parents of girls in Year One and Two are asked to please attend a very short meeting in the clubhouse on Saturday March 2nd at 10.45am before the Inter Club games and coaching at 11am.
