Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report - 18/02/19

There were very few matches played over the first weekend of half term. However, there was one stand out result and a very pleasing one. Congratulations to Formby Junior Sports Club Under 12 Blacks on winning their first Premier League match of the season. Each week the boys have tried so hard but have come up short but at last through great determination and team spirit the team gained a win and three points the team’s combined effort deserved. FJSC Blacks started well but it was their opponents Churchtown who took the lead with their first effort on goal. The Blacks response was very positive and shortly afterwards Jack Yarwood equalised. The Blacks then went into the lead when Calum McNally scored twice. Sam Mycek extended the lead from a free kick before Churchtown pulled a goal back. Jacob Browne with his first competitive goal for FJSC gave the Blacks a 5-2 half time lead. In the second half Dylan Riley who had already provided two assists scored two goals. Churchtown scored their third goal but the Blacks kept their composure to gain a 7-3 win. There were good displays from Dominic Hamilton, Caleb Johnson and James Hughes but the man of the match award went to Jonny Shaw who had an outstanding game at right back. FJSC Under 15’s without a match for three weeks were slow to settle in their Bootle League match against a hard working Lydiate team. Errors proved costly and Lydiate took full advantage and went into a three nil lead at the interval. FJSC played very much better in the second half. Dan Griffin pulled one goal back and a Jack Ray header went very close. Further chances came and went for FJSC but the score remained 3-1 in Lydiate’s favour. Man of the match was Billy Steel. FJSC Under 14’s lost 3-2 to Phoenix Aces. Andy Kimmance scored just before half time after Phoenix had led. Phoenix then went into a 3-1 lead. Man of the match Christian Schwarze scored late on for FJSC and James Everett played well. FJSC Under 9’s were in action against Greenloons. In a very close match played in windy conditions man of the match Charlie Garvey scored. FJSC Under 8’s played Burscough Whites two weeks ago. Scoring goals in the match were Niall Brennan, Owen Griffiths, George Hansen, Thomas Szabo, and Charlie Jameson. Man of the match for a very impressive midfield display was Thomas Szabo. Last Sunday FJSC Under 8’s played in a very even and entertaining match against Southport Trinity Blue. Luke Patel, George Hansen, Thomas Szabo and Harry Nelson were FJSC’s scorers. Charlie Jameson was man of the match with a very determined display. There was only one Girls’ Representative team match played at the weekend. FJSC Under 16’s played Crosby Stuart. Crosby took the lead but FJSC soon equalised. Karen Lane won the ball back on the right and attacked the Crosby Stuart defence before crossing for Josie McIver whose shot was blocked. Ana Waite was on hand to score from the rebound. Crosby Stuart caught FJSC on the break and took the lead and added a third before the half time. Goalkeeper Rachel Robinson made a string of great saves to keep FJSC in the match. The Under 16’s played much better in the second half with Liberty Murphy, Simone Jones and Aimee Hollis all very prominent. There were some chances to reduce the deficit but eventually the FJSC team started to run out of stamina. A late flurry of goals from Crosby Stuart changed the outcome as they ran out 6-1 winners.
