Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report 11th February

FJSC BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 14 Blacks played Phoenix Arrows in the semi-final second leg cup-tie. Leading 2 nil from the first leg FJSC took the lead in the first minute with a well-taken goal from Andy Kimmance. Callum Davidson extended the lead for the Blacks in the second half from a penalty. Phoenix Arrows battled hard and were awarded a spot kick but goalkeeper Jack Allars duly saved. The Blacks went on to record a 3-1 victory on the day and a 5-1 overall aggregate winning scoreline. The excellent good form has been achieved by hard work of all the team. The defence of Callum Davidson, Jamie Duggan, Luke Phillips and Charlie Downey has become a strong unit giving the team renewed confidence. Joe Nel coming on as a substitute played well. Man of the match for another good right back display was Luke Phillips.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks will now play Phoenix Aces in the cup final to be played later in the season.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks lost 8-3 to Southport Whites. Jack Yarwood and Sam Mycek scored first half goals and the Blacks trailed to a good Southport team by just one goal at half time. Despite playing very well in patches after the interval the Blacks conceded more goals. Jack Yarwood scored his second goal of the match after some slick inter passing with the hard working, man of the match Dylan Riley. Reuban Dowling also provided a number of through balls and was unlucky not to score.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks played Crosby Stuart. It was a hard fought match. Fraser Holloway made a very good overall contribution and was voted man of the match.

FJSC Under 7’s had a thrilling end-to-end game with Crosby Stuart. It was high scoring match with everyone playing well. Bobby Friar and Beau Weston worked tirelessly and the goals were scored by Zak Healy, Dillon Crosby and Wojtek Pietkiewicz.

FJSC GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 16’s lost 3 nil to Town Green in the Liverpool League. It was the best performance of the year by the Under 16’s against a highly placed team in the league. In the first half Liberty Murphy and Josie McIver came close to scoring. Town Green took the lead from a corner before the interval and with the added advantage of Storm Erik in the second half doubled the lead from another goal scored direct from a corner. FJSC pressed forward but conceded a late third goal. Aimee Hollis and Ana Waite both had very good influential games but the girl of the game for her all-round display was awarded to Simone Jones.

FJSC Under 14 United produced an outstanding result in the Hightown Girls’ Under 14/15 Winter League by defeating run away leaders Bootle FC. United started strongly and a Freya Thornton shot hit the post. A Lauren Holden cross was finished brilliantly by Anna Klaassen to give United a half time lead. Alex Murphy-Worrell made it two nil scoring with a wonderful header. Bootle pulled a goal back but United kept cool to win 2-1. Girl of the game was Martha Steel who excelled in a new position. FJSC United now move up to third place, six points behind Bootle but with three matches in hand.

FJSC Under 13 Albion led 2-1 against Remyca at half time with goals from Aaliyah Turner and Abbey Leary. Remyca came back well to win 4-2 in this group cup match.

In the same competition it was an identical story for FJSC Under 13 Real. Maisie Cox and Evie Law gave Real a 2-1 advantage at half time but their opponents Oxton recovered to go on to win 4-2. Girl of the match was Rosie Johnson.

FJSC Under 12 Hotspurs drew 3-3 with Rainford Rangers. Two goals from Ellie Todino and one from Arianna Casson gave Hotspurs a 3-1 lead but Rainford rallied to earn a draw.

FJSC Under 11 Atletico won 4-1 against Bellefield in the cup. Faye Johnson scored twice and there was one goal each for Macey Taylor and Mae Phillips. Girl of the match for her very accurate passing went to Amber Fortune.

FJSC Under 10 Tornado gained a very narrow 2-1 win against Rainford Rangers in the cup. Izzy Parkinson scored the goals and the girl of the match was Holly Foster.

FJSC Under 10 Rockets continued their excellent run of form with a solid performance against Crosby Stuart. Honours were even in a goalless draw. All the girls played well.
