Congratulations to the squad of –Evie Balshaw, Evie Beckett, Grace Doyle, Sienna Fortune, Megan Hulse, Olivia Johnson, Hannah Jones, Felicity Pendleton, Florence Raikes, Erin Riley, Harriet Tunley and team manager and coach Chris Balshaw.
On Sunday it was the start of the cup competitions for many of FJSC’s Representative teams including the Rockets.
FJSC GIRLS’ CUP MATCHES
FJSC Under 10 Rockets played Rainford Rangers in their first group game. Both teams played some excellent football and despite excitement in both penalty areas the match ended goalless.
FJSC Under 10 Tornados were in action against Crosby Stuart. The team played well but lost 5-1. Izzy Parkinson scored and goalkeeper Joanne Mountain was the girl of the match.
FJSC Under 11 Atletico were involved in a high quality match with Bootle. An Amy Hollow shot from the half way line struck the Bootle crossbar. There were a number of Atletico near misses as well but it was not to be, with Bootle scoring the only goal of this cracking cup-tie.
FJSC Under 12 Hotspurs continued their good form from last week and defeated Crosby Stuart 4-1. Ellie Todino scored a well-taken hat trick before Arianna Casson completed the scoring with a fourth goal for Hotspurs. It was a great team performance.
FJSC Under 13 Albion soon got over the disappointment of only being runners-up in the Winter League last weekend with a 5-2 cup win over league champions Hesketh Colts Red. There were two goals each for Yasmin Godsall and Aaliyah Turner. A dangerous corner from Grace Malone led to the final Albion goal. Goalkeeper Sophie Hughes made some very brave saves and was voted girl of the game. All members of the Albion squad were also presented with their league runners-up trophies.
FJSC Under 14 United played their second round Liverpool County FA cup match against Crosby Stuart. Freya Thornton, girl of the game Anna Klaasssen, Hannah Allmark and Bella Plows with a great header, scored one goal each in the 4-4 draw. The dreaded penalty shoot-out followed and unfortunately United lost 3-2. It was a fantastic match and all the girls can be very proud of their team performance.
FJSC BOYS’ CUP TIES
FJSC Under 9’s played Greenloons and advanced into the Jim Rourke Cup semi-final following a 5 nil win. On target with goals for FJSC were Archie Ogden, Max Ryan, Jack Finnegan and Charlie Garvey. Joint players of the match were Jack Finnegan and Archie Ogden. FJSC Under 9’s will now play S. and B. United.
FJSC Under 10 Blacks lost 5-2 to Hesketh Colts Blue. Thomas Dent and Jake Verinder scored one goal apiece. Micky Denison was man of the match.
FJSC Under 10 Rangers drew 3-3 with Hillside Athletic before going on to win the Wilf Jenkinson cup-tie 4-3 on penalties. Rangers will play Hesketh Colts Blue in the semi-final.
FJSC GIRLS’ LEAGUE MATCHES
FJSC Under 8 Galaxy and FJSC Under 7 Bobcats played each other. The two teams showed great determination and did the club proud. Girl of the game Amelia Scott and Milla Johnson scored the goals for Galaxy.
FJSC BOYS’ LEAGUE MATCHES
FJSC Under 16 United won 3-1 against Quarry Green in the Bootle League whilst FJSC Under 15 Whites defeated Silcox Villa 4 nil to remain in fourth position just two points behind the team in second position. Billy Steel scored a brace and there was also one goal each for Patrick Jones and Ben Williams. Man of the match was Jack Lemmens.
FJSC Under 14’s have certainly turned their season around. After the first ten matches the Under 14 team had only recorded one draw and had lost nine times. Since December however the same boys have won four matches and drawn one of the last six games played. It was the performance of the season so far last Saturday with a resounding 6-1 away victory at Rufford and Holmeswood. Rylie Reed scored a hat trick with Conor Leyland also scoring twice and Andy Kimmance completing the scoreline with one goal. Goalkeeper Jack Allars was again man of the match.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks tried very hard in their match with top of the table team Southport Trinity Yellows. An injury sustained before kick off meant that the Blacks had to play with one player short and no substitutes. Reuban Dowling came the closest to scoring. Despite conceding a lot of goals the Blacks showed a very good team spirit. Goalkeeper Caleb Johnson made a number of excellent saves. Jacob Browne for his tireless effort and link up play was man of the match.
FJSC Under 8’s produced a very good team display against Hesketh Colts Red. Owen Griffiths, Harry Nelson, James Potts and Charlie Jameson were all on the score sheet. Man of the match was defender Luke Patel.
FJSC Under 7’s played a very strong Burscough Yellow team. Dillon Crosby and Zak Healy scored one goal each.
